Meet Ruth Redden of Beauty with a Twist in San Marcos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Redden.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started doing makeup when I was 17 years old for all my friends when I turned 18 I got hired at Dillards in fragrances in San Antonio this Dillards also had the first MAC counter in San Antonio. I used to watch and tell myself I’m going to work there one day.

I was truly fascinated on how people would leave and look so happy thats when I realized makeup makes people feel and look so happy. My goal was to work there. I had one child and one on the way which everyone had told me I’d never have time in my life to do makeup and go to school I had to choose something more convenient. Well, I didn’t stop there I watched a famous Makeup artist her name was Erica Andrews she taught me alot she also taught me confidence and once I had that I became unstoppable. I got hired with Mac got married my ex-husband was in the military so I followed him around and continued to work for MAC as well in Virginia I had three little ones and never gave up even though it was very hard I enjoyed what I did.

We moved back to San Antonio got divorced and I became a single mother still working for Mac at this point I needed more so I worked my butt off and got promoted as a manager for the Mac store in San Antonio. Kids grew up graduated Found out my father had cancer. I stopped working for MaC to spend some time with my father and he passed. My life crumbles and I felt lost. I didn’t have the urge to really do anything honestly. I turned to Buddhism and found life again and met the love of my life Tony Belmonte he gave me the courage to open up my own studio and to do what I loved on my own time and pace. And that is when I opened Beauty with a Twist.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Never a smooth road my struggles was with the lost of my father and support I had wish I had from my family when he was alive but I still accomplished it.

Beauty with a Twist – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

What sets me apart is I’m very open to peoples opinions and nonjudgemental on any of my clients wants.
