Thanks for sharing your story with us Jasmine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I choose to become a travel influencer because I love to travel, it’s my happy place. I feel that everyone should get out and experience the world. We all deserve a time to sit back and relax! There are so many individuals that feel like traveling is expensive or requires you to be in a certain space financially and this is not the case. There are several different tactics that can be used to create an enjoyable and affordable vacation. I use my platform to show people how to plan an affordable vacation with budget-friendly excursions. I hope that my content inspires people to live their best life and do what their heart desires. You may not be where you want to be in life or your life may not have turned out as planned, but there is no point in moping, make the best of your NOW! In the end, we all should be able to look back on our life and feel that we LIVED a good life.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most of my struggles and challenges come from within and are linked to my own insecurities. For so long, becoming an influencer was just an idea because I was afraid of failing or I felt unqualified. I would constantly come up with excuses of how I was inadequate or why I should wait. One day I came across a quote that states “You have the life that you create” and this changed my thought process. This gave me a go for it mentality and I realized that my dream life isn’t going to fall into my lap. If I want it, I have to get up and create it! I realized that the outcome of this journey didn’t matter because I would be doing what I love. I wasn’t going to stop traveling, so why not share my content with the world.
Occasionally I still struggle with my own insecurities when I see amazing content from established travel influencers. I start to get discouraged/ intimidated because I haven’t reached their level and I have to have a “Come to Jesus” moment with myself. I remind myself that what God has for me is for me and that I am at the beginning of my journey. When it is my time it will be my time, I just need to stay focused, keep going and stay the course. The focus should be on doing what I love and inspiring others, not competing to be the best travel influencer. The world is mines, I just have to reach up and grab it.
Please tell us about A Whole New World with Jazzy.
A Whole New World with Jazzy uses social media to present a collection of my travel experiences and tips to inspire my followers to travel. I provide my followers with budget-friendly vacation options, excursion/lodging reviews and must see/do items for various destinations. The content is presented with information on booking, cost, and location. I like to highlight and expand on destinations within the USA for those that aren’t able to travel outside of the country or those that aren’t financially prepared to travel outside the country. We have some amazing travel destinations right in our own backyard that I feel aren’t advertised enough.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that the most important thing that I can do to secure my success is to be myself and provide genuine feedback/content. I feel that being an influencer it can be easy to want to create a façade or craft your content based off of what works for other influencers. In my eyes, this approach doesn’t guarantee success and people on social networking sites can spot a fraud from a mile away. Authenticity, honesty and being relatable are very important when it comes to making it as an influencer. Also, it is important to be a people person and to interact with your followers.
