Today we’d like to introduce you to Yoav Kaufman.
Dr. Yoav Kaufman is Board-Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery as well as fellowship-trained Orthopedic Hand surgeon, who specializes in cosmetic surgery, breast reconstruction, microsurgery and hand surgery at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Originally from Israel, Dr. Kaufman earned his Medical Doctorate from the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine where he also completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency. During his training in the world’s largest medical center, he trained with faculty from leading institutions such as MD Anderson, Houston Methodist, Memorial Hermann and CHI-St. Luke’s. Following his training he went on to Stanford University for a fellowship is Orthopedic Hand surgery to further refine his general hand surgical skills and fine microsurgical and reconstructive surgery of the upper extremity. Throughout his career, Dr. Kaufman has published extensively in the premier journals of the field, with over 30 peer-review articles and book chapters. He continues to work with residents and medical students at Baylor College of Medicine.
In addition, Dr. Kaufman has always maintained a fundamental interest in improving the lives of the underserved. He has co-founded organizations such as Students of the World and Project Namungo: Zone B to provide aid in Uganda against the AIDs pandemic. He has been to Guatemala and the Ivory Coast, where he performed multiple surgeries such as cleft lip and palate repair, burn reconstruction, hand reconstruction and facial reconstruction in makeshift hospitals.
Aside from his professional life, he is equally passionate about his family. His favorite activities with his wife, Erika, and three boys, are all outdoors and include hiking, skiing, biking, and fly fishing.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have been very fortunate throughout the many years of training to have had great mentors and the support of my family and my wife. This is a long road with many hours spent in libraries, clinics and hospitals. I would never have survived the 12 years of medical education, training and fellowship, were it not for their help, constant motivation and endless love.

Kelsey Seybold Clinic is a hospital system composed of highly skilled primary and specialty care physicians focused on providing high quality, evidence-based care to our Houston area patients. As a part of this healthcare system, I perform reconstructive surgery including free flap breast reconstruction, abdominal wall reconstruction and facial reconstruction following skin cancer resection. In addition, I also perform cosmetic surgery for both our patient population and those outside the Kelsey-Seybold system. This includes breast augmentation, breast lift, mommy makeovers, facelifts, neck lifts, rhinoplasty, liposuction, body contouring after weight loss, and non-surgical procedures.
Our fully accredited surgical center and office operative suite allow me to perform many of these procedures in the office, under local anesthesia and provide huge cost saving benefits to my patients without sacrificing safety or quality. Eyelid surgery, face and neck lifts, liposuction and body contouring can all be performed without the cost of general anesthesia.
With the help of my amazing and caring staff, we are able to tailor our services individually for every patient to ensure they obtain their ideal and desired result.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Houston in my opinion is one of the greatest cities in the US and is highly underappreciated. It is culturally diverse, home to unique and tasty cuisine, filled with world champion sports teams and simply an easy place to raise a family at a reasonable cost of living. I could not be more proud of this great city!
