Meet Mac Johnson, Cayden Diebold, and Jake Douglas of JunkBunny in Montgomery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mac Johnson, Cayden Diebold, and Jake Douglas.

Mac, Cayden, and Jake, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The three of us started out as friends who had the same interests in music and liked the same bands, so we joined up and played mostly covers at bars, parties, and wherever else people would have us play. As we started to gain more of a following and a reputation in the Houston area, we started to write and play our own songs and play cooler venues like Fitzgerald’s, White Oak Music Hall, and others. Soon, we were playing full shows with all original material, and people seemed to dig it. We created our own home-made CD, which caught the attention of Lava Records, who we are now signed with. We spent a month in L.A. recording our debut album with Howard Benson, and are super psyched for that to come out soon!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been a relatively smooth road for us, the only problems we’ve had were because we were too young to get into the bar or something dumb like that.

JunkBunny – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The content of our music is kind of funny because we didn’t really realize what the songs were about until after we had written to them and really looked back over the lyrics. Our songs tend to deal with the emotional struggles someone might be dealing with, like not feeling confident in themselves or wanting to be free with who they are.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think the three of us can agree that the most fun we’ve ever had was spending a month in Los Angeles recording our album. That’s definitely an experience we’ll never forget.
