Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanji Patton.
Tanji, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hard work. I’m a journalist at heart and most of my career has been spent working in television news–as a reporter, an Executive Producer, a lifestyle show host and a news anchor. About ten years ago, my husband and I decided we wanted to pursue a journey that “feeds” our passion for wonderful food and wine, pun intended.
Thus the beginning of Goodtaste Tv began. We started Goodtaste during the worst economy imaginable back in 2008, but it turned out to be the biggest blessing ever. We offered small businesses, mostly restaurants in Texas an affordable way to tell their stories and ideally grow more public awareness through our website and television show. Everyone has a story, and I love hearing about the amazing success stories of the small businesses/restaurants owners and chefs we work with. We started with a digital outlet, Goodtaste.tv, that continues to grow today. Our digital outlet has now grown into a Television series in its fifth season that is broadcast in 15 Texas markets and also includes Nashville.
Has it been a smooth road?
At times, NO! I don’t know of any business owner who can say its ‘been a smooth road.’ Anytime there’s growth, there are challenges. Sure, it’s an awesome adventure, but with any successful endeavor there’s going to be little bumps along the way. Practically every restaurant owner/chef I’ve interviewed has told me how hard their job can be and that it’s more difficult than they anticipated it would be. As a friend of mine often says, ‘if it was easy, everyone would do it.’

I’m very proud of Goodtaste! We are all about sharing incredible stories of the people behind great food and wine. We inform viewers about wonderful restaurants across the state of Texas and beyond, and I also share my favorite wine finds and recipes. We even have our own Instagram TV show we produce which includes kitchen hacks, Goodtaste recipes, wine picks and more. Wine is a true passion of mine. I’ve traveled to vineyards all over the world and never grow tired of learning about wine and passing along that knowledge to our viewers. We have fantastic relationships with media of all kinds and share our stories not only online at Goodtaste.tv but also with television viewers across the state and on our social channels which continue to be a wonderful resource.
We look for stories that inspire people, stories that lift their spirits. There are some incredible heroes out there, and we love to meet them through our show and media outlets.
