Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Sanford.
Nick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off photographing landscapes and beautiful objects my eyes would see in nature. I did a lot of traveling to photograph everything I could where I experienced all types of culture. When I couldn’t travel I still had an addiction to create art with my camera. I began to photograph people and started to discover the same passion to construct amazing art with subjects that need their photos taken for all types of reasons all the time in business, family, or special events. Photographing weddings became a huge part of my business, and being able to travel to different places around the world to photograph a destination wedding has been a rewarding part of my business being able to do two things I love. Being located in Houston Texas has allowed me to photograph an abundance of large events and cultural weddings with so much diversity of people and business here. When I’m not busy on local assignments in Houston, I’m traveling to other countries seeking out adventure and creating art and content for my travel blog which is beachesandbacon.com. Creating art for the world to enjoy is not work for me, and my goal is to be able to do what I consistently enjoy.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Choosing photography as a career is definitely not a smooth road. People don’t jump into the business because they think they’re going to become rich and wealthy. Building a brand is not easy even if you’re an amazing artist. There are millions of them out there and images everywhere in the digital world today. You’re either addicted to creating the images you visualize in constructing or it will likely just be a hobby for most people. You have to find a niche in the business somewhere and work tirelessly to make the public aware any way that you can. You really have to love what you do as a photographer to stick with it. You have to believe that your work is special.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nick Sanford Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I think what sets me apart is the versatility I have in being able to create artistic content for all types of businesses and different looks for people. I photograph weddings more than anything, but I rarely turn down business of any kind if I can help out my client. I’ll travel anywhere I’m needed if the job makes sense, and I’m eager for those experiences for my clients.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans are to continue to create as much art as I can around the world. I don’t like to be in one place for that long. I’ll be showcasing as many unusual and beautiful places on our travel blog, and creating great quality of art for my clients and their needs.
Technology is always changing and improving my skill is always part of that to achieve the beauty I’m seeking out on both spectrums.
