Hello! My name is Bree Wilson. I am newly-wed Houston transplant, a Friends junkie, and the owner of Girl on the Glow HTX! I’m a total dreamer and my husband often has to remind me that to reach my 10-year goal, I need to cross off my To-Do List for the day. So, getting into the good stuff: Girl on the Glow HTX was just an idea a little under three months ago. As a serial entrepreneur, I was itching for a new endeavor. I’ve previously owned businesses that performed less than successfully and while neither of those businesses are thriving now, I consider them stepping stones for where I am now.
When I began Girl on the Glow HTX, I had a few things in mind for the brand. Firstly, I researched solutions endlessly trying to find one that wouldn’t develop orange, was organic, vegan and cruelty-free as well as great for sensitive skin. Secondly, it had to be convenient. We live in a day and age where convenience wins out and my clients are busy women! So, I decided to be entirely mobile and offer after-hours appointments for my night owls. Third, I wanted to convey a feeling with Girl on the Glow HTX. Anyone can give a spray tan but a “Glow at Home” with Girl on the Glow is supposed to be an empowering time. We take the time to get to know our clients. Discussing their weekend plans, boy problems, their career and making them feel as comfortable as possible– I mean, they’re half-naked, if they’re not comfortable, we’re not doing our jobs. I LOVE getting texts/photos the next day from my clients telling me how beautiful they feel and how many compliments they’ve received. It’s beyond fulfilling to give women a little confidence boost from something as simple as a spray.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So, we just finished out our first month. It’s been relatively smooth, knock on wood. I’m not going to lie– I have an amazing support system and am a little bit of a book worm so going into our launch, I was staying up hours on end consuming information to ensure that we were giving our business every opportunity to succeed. A new business is like a baby. It definitely takes a toll on your sleep schedule, your marriage, and I don’t think I’ve seen a gym in months. I am constantly trying to ensure that Girl on the Glow HTX is staying relevant on every possible platform, that potential clients are receiving all resources necessary to make the best decisions on their sunless tanning journey, and that current clients are not only satisfied with their glow but also have all the knowledge available to maintain that perfect glow.

So, Girl on the Glow HTX is an in-home luxury tanning service that offers organic, violet-based glows performed by certified technicians with a NO-ORANGE guarantee.
We offer our signature “Glow at Home”, a basic Monthly Membership, a VIP Monthly Membership, as well as customizable bridal packages. We consider the “Glow at Home” our signature service because this doesn’t have to be the tan-obsessed girl but maybe just someone who has a big event, a photoshoot, or maybe a weekend getaway with a new lover.
That being said, we see an incredible conversion rate between our one-time “Glow at Home” to a monthly membership. Once women experience how hassle-free + convenient our services are coupled with how confident they feel with a healthy, natural glow, THEY CAN’T GET ENOUGH!
One thing that sets us apart is our attention to detail. Your experience begins 24 hours prior to your appointment when you receive your prep text. We send our clients a list of pre-tan instructions as well as aftercare instructions to ensure that their skin is perfectly prepped for their Glow at Home. At the appointment, the clients receive complimentary barrier cream for those “easily stained” problem areas as well as a pH balancing mist that gets their skin to the optimal pH for maximum absorption of the solution. Once the tan is complete, we follow up with a drying powder so there’s no disruption of development when the client gets dressed. Our technicians follow up with every client once they are done processing (typically 6-8 hours later) to remind them to rinse and again the following morning to ensure that our clients are completely satisfied.
I am so proud of the level of customer service that each and every Girl on the Glow HTX client receives. Because at the end of the day, that’s what keeps them coming back time and time again!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For right now, Girl on the Glow HTX will continue to be a mobile service but there’s always the idea of opening a salon one day to offer even more flexibility for our clients. Who knows what the future holds.
