Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisol Herrera.
Marisol, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2008 alongside my business partner. We opened a job placement agency for people who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing to address the needs of employers and plant the seeds for a diverse future. In 2017, we decided to close the doors to our agency to begin our individual business ventures. I’ve always been a fashion geek and knew early on that I wanted to start a streetwear brand that represented strong women. In late 2017, Herr Apparel was created with its first design being released in 2018.
Has it been a smooth road?
Like any business, it’s never a smooth journey. There is a lot that goes into starting a brand. I learned early on that creating a brand wasn’t just about slapping a design on a blank t-shirt and calling it a day. I didn’t want to be a fly by night brand but rather a brand that could stand the test of time which required finding the right creative director and lead designer.

I’m the owner of Herr Apparel, a streetwear brand that promotes women empowerment. We release a variety of merchandise such as; hats, hoodies, leggings, t-shirts, and accessories coming soon. I’m most proud of the most recent campaign, the Tough & Co release, which involved my daughter and bonus child. Most of the items in this collection sold out within the first week.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is definitely a city that allows anyone to begin a business. We have plenty of resources, a creative scene, and opportunities for networking.
