Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Rivas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At 15 years old, The beauty industry became everything to me. I started by doing makeup and hair for Quinceaneras and weddings. It was always a side hustle for me but I knew it was something I wanted to invest in. Forward to seven years later, I set up a little studio in my town home and started lashing out of there. Lashing became my hobby, I would work from 8am-8pm every day. One year and some months later, I had managed to save up enough money and open my own shop! God has truly blessed me with being able to work for my self and also be the mother/ wife that I strive to be. I am thankful for the long nights at my past jobs that have allowed me to jump out of my comfort zone and helped me comprehend what my calling is. It is to be an entrepreneur and also help other people along the way. This is only one goal out of 100 that I will reach. Anything is possible.
Has it been a smooth road?
There are so many trials you have to go through in life in any situation you’re in. It’s something I’ve had to fully understand and accept. I’ve had days where I just want to give in but to be quiet honest, this is the only job I’ve been able to keep for this long. My biggest struggle/flaw is overthinking and it happens to get in between everything. It’s something I will continue to work on.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cupid Beauty Bar story. Tell us more about the business.
Cupid Beauty Bar was named after my brilliant siblings. My brother somehow came up with “Cupid” and eventually we put everything together. It definitely describes what we specialize in which is: Lash Extensions, Nails and Eyebrows. We are known for our rare skills for customizing and adding detail to everything we do. Cupid “was generally seen as a good spirit who brought happiness to all.” Our desire at CBB is to do just that.
I am most proud of how far we’ve come. My teams work ethic is amazing and their drive to perfect their craft is even better. We help each other out in everything and will maintain to do so.
From the time our client walks in thru the door we greet them with so much enjoyment. Our #1 priority is for them to have an unforgettable experience. To break it down, We also pay very close attention to our application. It’s crucial to put our self in their position and understand that we deserve to be pampered properly.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
It’s not as easy as it sounds to know where I’ll be 5-10 years from now but I would say that I see my self expanding and growing CBB. I just pray that my hard work will pay off. In five years, I will still be working hard and ten years from now, as insane as this sounds… I will retire my parents and my self and enjoy that lifestyle that everyone craves for.
