Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcy Basile.
Marcy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in Houston, I participated in myriad sports including cycling, softball, golf and bodybuilding. But, although I was an avid plus-size athlete, it was frustrating that sports gear and clothing were so limited in my size. So when I was researching a career move from journalism/graphic design to massage therapy, I made a conscious decision to create a place for everybody with an emphasis on a welcoming, comfortable and safe space.
Has it been a smooth road?
When clients see me, they immediately recognize that I can relate to their past experiences. Whether I’m seeing an office worker dealing with stress and anxiety issues, an athlete training for their next major event, or a parent craving some ‘me’ time, I can empathize with the emotional and physical issues being presented to me. Has it been a smooth road? Oh, heck no. But would I be where I am now without the bumps and roadblocks I’ve been presented? Absolutely not.

As a massage therapist, I’m known for not only my hands-on skills but also for taking the time to actually listen to my clients and addressing their wellness concerns. Having been a large person my entire life, I’ve lived my clients’ experiences with the stares, glares and incredibly inappropriate body-shaming comments. The relief of having a massage therapist who sees them as the person they are is palpable. I’m also a certified personal trainer creating a therapeutic relationship many clients thought was nonexistent.
