Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Adagbon.
Samuel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started in 2017, my father was in terminally ill in the hospital and I need a hobby to take my mind off of the tragedy. So I decided to buy a camera. Although In the past, I always preferred being in front of the camera. At first, I began by taking photos with my close friend peez and with my friend named Nick who is now a model based in NY. Business started to pick up, I started getting a buzz in Dallas which other models would hit me up to collab and would eventually get me a gig at SXSW 2017 at the all def digital show, which I got to shoot for smokepurrp, Denzel Curry, Kyle, Maxo Kream and some others. A couple of months later, I ended up deciding to attend the University of Houston. All my clientele was gone until I met the bro’s Joe and Raph. I decided to link with them every now and then have a photoshoot with them. Shooting with them got me recognition from several brands including Adidas, G-star, and Converse.
One night I get a call from my sister Precious saying that they need a photographer for a huge concert in Houston in called OneMusicOneSound which included Flavour, Tekno, and Sarkodie. One last minute notice, I grabbed my gear. While shooting the pictures were coming out amazing then, for some reason I switched to video mode on my camera and began recording. The video wasn’t that great but it excited me, I wanted to do videos more and more. I began asking my other sister patience, which now manages most of my gigs, to see if could get in contact with artist that come into town, which end up allowing me to shoot davido, olamide, and several other artists. My work began to flourish which have given me the opportunity to work with many artists locally and international. One of my most recent projects include artists ProblemChild and Burna Boy. My Work has allowed me to get into different areas of business such as real estate, commercial advertising and given me the opportunity to work international with soca on the seas. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for me and my lens.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t, me being self-taught, and not having any prior experience with digital media it was not very smooth I’ve always had to go the extra mile to figure things out, like editing, data storage, and etc.

DirectedbySb is my business, and I specialize in media production. I’m most proud for the opportunity to be able to work in a variety of areas and not being attached to one area.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Plan on launching a production team and expanding my talents and services to not only help people but to impact them at the same time.
