Today we’d like to introduce you to Trentin Thomas Sr.
Trentin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Honestly, there were some life-changing events that led me to training youth sports. I am a former collegiate athlete, I am a man of God, married, and have two wonderful boys. I attended Southern University on a four years football scholarship where I earned a BS in Electrical Engineering. After college, I decided to begin working in the Oil & Gas industry in which I have worked in for about ten years. During those years, I came to realize that I am passionate about helping other athletes achieve their goal in their respective sport(s). Currently, I train my athletes at a private gym in Cypress, TX and nothing is more satisfying than seeing your athletes being excited about the progress that made during testing time or during their game.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can tell you first hand, it has not been a smooth road. After getting laid off in the oil and gas industry, it gave me the opportunity to really hone in on my other gift and what I am passionate about which is training our youth. God allows things to happen for a reason. Within one year, both of my parents had a stroke and I was laid off, but I did not quit. I knew it was going to be tough especially going from an engineer which everything has to line up almost perfectly to being an entrepreneur in which you do not know what will happen the next minute. I always made sure to put God first throughout every step and having the support from wife was huge for me. If it was not for her driving me to do what I love, then you all probably would not ever know about Get Fit With Trent.
Please tell us about Get Fit With Trent.
I am called to be a youth sports tutor. My goal is to train all student athletes between the ages of 5-18 years old to dominate at their sport. I train fundamental moments, explosive moments, footwork, hand-eye coordination, core/stability, and mental focus. All of this can translate to any sport because I have used this personally and saw the results on athletes already that excels in multiple sports. My number one goal is to help every student athlete I train to earn a free education by earning a scholarship.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be traveling for spring break with my family every year. I know it is not one particular memory, but it showed me the true meaning of family. Make sure to always show your loves ones that you love them and appreciate them. One thing I would like to add is that we use to go to the zoo almost everywhere we traveled and I loved animals so much that I decided I was going to be a veterinarian until I realize I would actually have to perform surgery. With saying that just being around my family is my biggest childhood memory.
