Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Humes.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In November 2017, two wine lovers opened to bring the spirit of Texas and hospitality to Sealy. After graduating with degrees in Hotel Restaurant Management, both went into the hospitality industry.
Sean then dug further and got his sommelier and later began attending winemaking classes at Texas Tech in Fredericksburg. With a strong love for Wine and Texas, Sean and Chelsea started a small tasting room built by hand that opened November 2017. In 2018, they planted their first clippings of Black Spanish vines. There is plenty of room to go outside, enjoy the country, and play a game of bags. They have three kids that all like to help in the winemaking process, especially mixing and bottling the wines.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a great ride. When opening, we decided to start small and organically work our way into getting bigger, which has helped. Even doing so, it can be difficult keeping up with the demand at times.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a small winery that specializes in great wine. We have something for everyone, whether its red, white, sweet, or dry. Our tasting room is conveniently located one mile north of I-10, and only 20 minutes out from Katy making it very convenient for travelers to stop at on their way to Austin or San Antonio. People enjoy being able to have great wine on the patio overlooking the countryside.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We are in the perfect place for our business because it’s close to the city without actually being around all the traffic and stores. I would recommend the area for what we do, in fact we have another winery coming up not too far out who we actually get some of our grapes from now, and there are quite a few others a little further in the area that we are on a wine trail with.
