Meet DeAndre Crayton of Filthydre

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAndre Crayton.

DeAndre, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I rap, host events, co-host a radio, act (on occasions), model (want to get more into that), along with a list of other things. I was born and raised Ii Houston, Texas. Born on the southwest side of town but I lived all over the Southside of Houston (Hiram Clarke, South Park, South Union, Third Ward, Meyerland) as moved a lot as kid. As a kid, I was always active and made a lot of friends, which continued to my adulthood and is the reason I know a lot of people. Growing up, I was into sports played basketball and football and ran track pretty much my whole life until my sophomore year in college.

As a kid, me and my brothers made a rap group alongside a close family friend. We did not last long as my athletics got in the way and my older brother stayed in the books and eventually went to college (he is four years older than me). In High School, I met a guy named Aye Jay who rapped at the time and we eventually created a group called Hollywood Clique with other close friends where we were the lone two rappers of the click. He is a much better rapper than me, my favorite rapper actually (still to this day) and he gained a lot of popularity at the school. So Hollywood Clique becomes a kind popular group around the schoolhouse. I went to Lamar High School by the way located of Westheimer (The Best High School in the World) 08 graduate.

Later in high school, a childhood friend of mine along with others, started another group called Derty Money and pretty much adopted most members of Hollywood clique in to the squad. We become the original members and ever had a group of kids under us called young dert. Derty Money was a very popular group at lamar and around the city of Houston. We were known for doing wild stuff, making funny YouTube videos (can be found on YouTube today) and just having fun at all times. We also partied pretty hard lol. My Hollywood clique name was Hollywood Dre and my Derty name is Filthy Fresh. I just combined the two and thats how filthydre came about. I made it my Twitter Name in 09 and has now become my identity. I decided to use it on all social media and thats how people know me now, crazy right I know.

After high school, I went to college in North Carolina to play basketball, where I hated it then transferred to UTSA legacy kinda started. At UTSA, I build up my name through my lifestyle which was very celeb like. I parties hard traveled a lot and linked up with people from all over Texas. Yes, I did graduate by the way in 2013 with communication degree. Through UTSA is actually how I got on the radio show as my fellow Roadrunner @Ugrady extended the offer to join show and I accepted. Be so social and active for so many years a lot of things kind of fell in my lap. I always take advantage of opportunities thrown at me as I know so many people that do so many big things in the city.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing is ever smooth. Some days I wake up like what am I doing what did I get my self in to and where do I go from here. I struggle with consistency sometimes as real-life hits me in the face at all times as my journey continues. Bills don’t stop, family issues, and trying to be everywhere at one time affect me all the time. It is so much easier to quit when things go south than to continue the mission at hand. But I just keep going and keep in mind that great things take time.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I MC Events, I rap, I model, I act, do a YouTube Series called Krew Season and I am I co-host for an online radio show. I also dip and dapple in real estate and work closely with a pressure washing company. I am most known for being the life of the party. I specialize in bring a great experience. I make my presence felt by making sure everyone has a good time. Whether that be through comedic relief, hospitality, listening, collaborating, Giving game or even customer service. I am most proud of my growth and will to keep going. My life path as been interesting and never has been promising. But somehow I make it work.

What sets me apart from people is my generousness and my “do it my way” attitude. I also wanna do stuff how I want to do it, no matter what is in what other people want me to do or even the proper way to do something. I always be me and do it the dre way. No disrespect to anybody or try to be different thoughts I just be me and show love.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as a peace of mind. Whatever puts a person at ease is success to me. Life can be stressful and hard to deal with but once you are able to go sleep worry-free, wake up and go about your day happy, and have a day where life trails don’t affect you, You are successful.
