Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Lee.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started out as an Architecture major in college and decided to major in Interior Architecture/design. My career started after college by working as a designer for a commercial design firm, a commercial office furniture firm and then later a high-end residential builder.
I obtained a tremendous amount of experience from all of the companies that I worked for. However, my last employer who was a residential builder (Royal Oaks) was the one that made my husband and I open Evolution By Design Inc.
We started a full-service boutique design company over 15 yrs. ago and we have never looked back.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can honestly say, I have truly been blessed in business. I have always been a working designer in Houston. I think sometimes the only obstacle in business can be challenging clients.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Evolution By Design – what should we know?
Evolution By Design is a full-service design company. We specialize in residential and commercial interior design. We do everything from renovations, new construction specification, floorplans, space planning, custom cabinetry, custom furniture, ordering all furniture lines, specialty painting, project management and space planning.
Evolution By Design is also creating a furniture store which will be opening in late October.
As a company, I am most proud of being featured on HGTV, Black Enterprise and being featured in the Houston Business Journal.
The thing that sets me apart from most designer is my personality. Most people feel my passion and love for the design industry. It’s not just a profession for me. I truly love creating timeless spaces that people can enjoy for years to come.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The qualities or characteristics that I feel are most important to my success would have to be my spirituality. My belief in God has given me the faith and strength to endure as well as know that he is the total contributor to my success. Also, my tremendous love and respect for others. I have always and will always treat my clients the way I would like to be treated. I feel that this is the true formula to a successful business.
