Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlicia “LeLe Baby” Sample.
LeLe Baby, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all began at the age of 3. I noticed that I was different and gifted with musical talents. From mocking dance moves and different musical genres I heard on TV, LeLe Baby was formed. I’m a child of a preacher so any music other than gospel was not permitted unless my mom allowed my brother and I to listen to it and of course it had to be clean. Music is a delight to my soul and besides copying what I saw on TV, my image was formed through the style of a musician by learning to play instruments. Primarily beginning with the keyboard and later throughout the years, the drums. I could recite a rap song at 3, attempted to make sense of everything by the age of 5, but I didn’t pick up a mic til the age of 7.
Today’s society is hyped and viral through socialization on the World Wide Web. I’m thankful for my supporters that follow me. Honestly, if it were not for my supporters, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I got where I am with hard work, dedication and drive. I began rapping in my bedroom, to my closet, to other people’s closet to an actual studio. I believe we all have to start our dream somewhere and actual pursue it whole-heartedly. I’m proud to say I did such and thankful to still be doing it!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has most definitely been tough along the way. There were times I doubted myself.
I remember rapping in my closet just simply thinking to myself “Will this dream actually come true?” Well, it did! Hard work was the key and communication was everything. Sometimes I wonder to myself, had I ignored a text, call or email, would people really know who I am today? Would I have this many supporters? I wonder! I wonder!
The biggest challenges were putting in hard work even when I was financially able to, but I was still blessed to carry on along the way. With family and true supporters, I was able to soar. I’ll never give up!!
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a rap artist, musician and photographer!
I rap and sometimes harmonize with my vocals. My primary instruments are keyboard and drums. However, I also play the saxophone, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, bongos, clarinet and xylophone. I absolutely enjoy capturing memorable moments of individuals with my photography work.
I specialize in delivering a musical and photography brand that is inspirational and motivational.
I’m most proud that I’ve grown as a rap artist and as a musician.
What sets me apart from others is that I don’t easily give up no matter how it looks!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I can see me being beyond great! I don’t quit, I have drive so all I can do is grow continuously!
I hope to keep inspiring others along the journey while continuing to be great at everything that I do!
