Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlina Kaposta.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been a girl with big dreams, I grew up in a cute little town called Austin, Texas. After college (University of Houston), I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams in interior design. I worked as a design assistant for a while yet found myself craving entrepreneurship and I found that in New York City. I moved across the country, started an award-winning lifestyle blog, formerly known as The Decorista, while building & growing an interior design practice in Manhattan.
After over a decade of designing spaces, my heart led me back home to Texas and I found myself craving a deeper connection with my clients. I studied Feng Shui to use a more holistic approach to my work and found a deep passion for helping people use interior design as a process of transforming their lives. Through my own career evolution and personal development, I wrote the Blissful Living Book collection, started a podcast and added real estate to my list of accomplishments.
Today, my business is a comprehensive experience, Interior Design, Feng Shui & Real Estate services through Ashlina Kaposta Interiors.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say the road hasn’t been smooth but it’s taken some serious twists and turns and at times very foggy. I’ve moved across the country a few times, fell in love, became a mother, etc. Each big life change brings you to a point where you have to ask yourself “what am I doing with my life?”. Sometimes it isn’t so clear what you should to do next or if you’re even truly fulfilled in what you’re doing. A few times, I found myself reaching huge goals and then finding myself thinking “ok, I did it! Now what?!” As a creative entrepreneur, I think it’s important to continually innovate or you will evaporate.
In those times, the ability to go within and find what is meaningful to you, what drives you, what your deep desires are, the answers to these questions are essential. This is what makes your business and success last over the long term. I’ve seen many people burn out in business. At the end of the day, the relationship with your self is what keeps you going strong.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m probably most known for my interior design work. My experience in Los Angeles and New York working under some of the most elite professionals in the industry sets me apart. However, I believe it is my true passion and purpose to inspire and educate people to find peace, comfort and happiness through their most sacred space, their home. I incorporate glamorous style, energy balancing through Feng Shui & decluttering and finding the perfect home for your dream life through real estate. In my work, it isn’t just about what your home looks like, it’s about creating a space that feels blissful for you and your family. I’m most proud of the relationships I have built through my business, my clients have become my closest friends.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Honestly, I love Christmas. I have always been in love with Christmas ever since I was a little girl. The decorating, the food, the music, the way the home feels when it’s full of love and memories. The way it feels to give and receive special gifts. I absolutely love Christmas.
