Sarai, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a teenager, exotic hair colors always caught my eyes, I started dying my hair after I graduated from highschool and haven’t stopped since. I knew then I had a passion for the beauty industry, I went ahead and applied to register at Paul Mitchell School and that’s how I got my foot in this industry. Attending the school opened my eyes to other services you can offer under your cosmetology license and that’s how I got introduced to eyelash extensions. After finishing up my program I then started working as a reception in a lash spa right the I fell in love with lashes.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, it was difficult as first learning this new trade, a very tedious craft. I’ve never been one to give up when something doesn’t go my way so I kept practicing and practicing. After months of practicing with models, I finally felt comfortable to take on clients and haven’t stopped since!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SaraiDoesMyLashes – what should we know?
Saraidoeamylashes was just a catchy phrase I thought of, just because when someone sees your craft someone will eventually ask my clients who were they seeing. I specialize in classic and volume lashes as well as Brazilian blowouts and hair color. I am known for my craft in lashing, I take using quality products very serious and offer mink extension instead of standard lashes. What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come to finally feel comfortable when doing either a classic set to a hybrid set. The fact that I am able to offer more than one service. What sets me apart from others is the quality of the product I use and my knowledge on lashes or Hair.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Most essential characteristic in my success is the fact that I never give up and I’ve always been one to go out and get the bag. I’ve never expected a handout from anyone I’ve always love to work for what’s mine and never giving up. I remember back when I was attending Paul Mitchell allot of my classmates always will tell me “I wanna be as ambitious as you, you always keep pushing no matter what life throws at you”. I’ve never known anything else but to hustle for what you want!
