Meet Kala Scott Stevenson of CrownUrGlory by Kala and Crown Heir Hair in Stafford, Richmond and SWAT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kala Scott Stevenson.

Kala, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
So I’m a 3rd generation hairstylist. My Grandmother was a “beautician” and a seamstress. My Grandfather was a barber and Minister. Was raised by my Godparent from age three. I have over ten licensed Professionals and even 20 more skilled.

That’s why we started CrownHeirHair. Currently, we sell premium virgin hair extensions online and will be expanding to more business ventures soon. I was taught to believe in strength in #’s, so with family backing, I’m excited to see where this can lead to my family and our offspring. Thus the term “Heir”. We want to leave a legacy we can grow and all be proud of. After all its one area of expertise, we surely know and know well…

I have been a licensed Cosmetologist for over 16yrs and I been a Cosmetology instructor for over four years at Ogle Hair Skin and Nails in Stafford, TX. I started out helping get my younger family together for school and church and realized I could do really nice simple styles and that I could braid around 12. Also, around that age When I put my 1st pressing comb on the stove!

Hair has always been in life! I braided hair to pay the bills all through Cosmetology school. I then worked at a chain salon and realized cutting hair is also life! I enjoy every aspect of hair cutting. I even cut my Gmas hair at five years old (oops!) Lol I enjoy cutting so much I made it a goal to be in the Bronner Brothers Cut party and this last year in New Orleans I finally got the opportunity to be apart of the hair show!

Throughout the years I learned and been taught so many different aspects of weaving and extensions. I now teach a specialty Hair Extensions class that I’ve developed for all areas of extensions. It’s Called “Mastering the Methods “. I’m looking forward to growing my brands and educate not only stylish but clients about the many options available to them and their hair!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like with any business, it takes hard work and dedication, but the road has not been easy! I take it all as a learning experience and grateful for the ride…

CrownUrGlory by Kala and Crown Heir Hair – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in Precision haircutting and All phases of Hair Extensions. I want people to know they have options. I can add extensions to hair without braids or glue or ombre and highlights without chemical damage. I also supply the hair from my brand CHH. I’m probably most known for cutting! I literally love shears, razors, clippers and a few other non traditional items used to cut…

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment I would say was actually getting my instructor’s license. I was terrified to take the test! It was a long time coming. I felt like I’d been in training to teach my whole life. All my mistakes or shall I say “Discoverable Moments” made it possible to learn from so that I may help others with the things I once struggled with.
