Meet Nadra Breir of A&M Postal Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadra Breir.

Nadra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My late husband Sam and I started the A&M Postal Center business 25 years ago. We are a family business serving the local community, and without the help of my two sons Maz and Abe, I would not have the thriving business we have today.

Serving the local community has always been the bedrock of our business ethos since inception. We have always aimed to provide personalized customer care and solutions to individuals shipping and mail security needs.

I feel we have truly got to know our customers over the years. Some of them have been loyal customers throughout the 25 years. We not only provide them with great service, we have been able to tailor our services to meet their specific needs. Making sure the baptism gift, grandma’s cookies, or that important document with a deadline get delivered on time is as important to us, as it is to our customers. Our customer base from the local community of Norchester subdivision and neighboring communities have not only been supportive, but many have become personal friends.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road but it’s been an interesting one. A few years after starting the business UPS drivers went on strike for a few weeks in the summer. We quickly realized we would need to partner with more than one courier service, so we added FedEx. Today we are partners with all major shipping and carrier companies.

Then we made sure and automated our software and now have the most up to date shipping software available.

Another major change we’ve noticed and felt are all the prepaid labels that customers insist on receiving and sellers provide all too willingly. Receiving any compensation on services we provide in that regard becomes a challenge. Lastly, taking a family vacation is always difficulty, luckily, we have found over the years some loyal support staff that are willing to bridge the gap.

Please tell us about A&M Postal Center.
A&M Postal Center’s main service is the mailbox rental. Our client base consists of home owned businesses who are advised not to mix their home and business addresses.

Followed by the “snow birds”, mostly people who travel extensively, within and outside the U.S., as well as ex-patriates who want to maintain one constant mailing address.

The shipping business is next and we offer numerous services using various shippers to suit most people’s needs and budgets. Our specialty is International shipping. The remaining services complement our main one, namely Notary, copy, fax, scan, shredding, greeting cards, stamps, etc. Customer service is our number one goal. Our expertise in packing and shipping make us stand out from our competitors. We always endeavor to keep up with industry best practice and are constantly attending industry seminars and classes to improve what we can offer.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Keeping up with all the changes taking place in the shipping industry is a major challenge we are continually facing, hence our insistence that we attend all the conventions and webinars offered by the various associations we belong to. Also, it appears that Amazon is flexing its muscle in the package delivery business and might soon be a competitor to UPS and FedEx, (the two giants in the field) We are always looking to add services and products that compliment what we already do and have become experts in providing our customers cost effective solutions.
