Today we’d like to introduce you to LaKisha Mosley.
LaKisha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my company about eight years ago after I had planned my 5-year vow renewal. Shortly after the ceremony, I was laid off from my company and I didn’t want to go back to a corporate job. I had so much fun planning my ceremony and had connected with so many people in the industry that I decided to start my own company. I went back to the owner of the venue where I had my ceremony and told him about my new company. He immediately offered me a spot at his next open house. I attended and booked 3 clients that day. The rest is history! I’ve been blessed enough to have done countless events for some amazing clients. I’ve traveled the country doing events in Atlanta, Destin, New York, L.A., to name a few. After a personal setback, I went back into the workforce. However, I’ve still maintained my business. I recently rebranded and do event management.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road! I started this as a solopreneur but decided twice to bring on a partner. Both times it didn’t work. Their hustles didn’t match mine so those relationships didn’t last very long. I divorced and it was hard to maintain a business and the issues that go along with divorce. I wasn’t able to maintain the lifestyle I was accustomed to and lost all of my possessions. I was severely depressed and suicidal. But my business was still open and I was able to maintain clients and events even going through that.
Please tell us about your business.
The LM Experience is the ultimate event management firm. We specialize in high-level event execution for all types of events. We efficiently execute the plans for any event. I am most proud that I never gave up on myself or my company even though I’ve struggled and had a lot of hard times.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of our city. I love the rich culture and how we celebrate everything. I had traffic.
