Meet Jose Nieto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Nieto.

Jose, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a Real Estate agent at Kelly Simon Properties. 28 years old, son of two immigrant parents that brought me here when I was only six months old for a better life. Came here with a one year visa and after it expired my parent decided to start their life and family here. Immigrant as well but only knowing Houston as my home. I started my first management job at 18 for Journeys shoe store and became store manager once I was 21. After that, I started worked for men’s warehouse – K&g & Express for altogether for seven years. I decided that the retail hours were not for me. I was missing out on trips with my friends and being able to hang out with my family. Started brainstorming & said I need a 9-5 to be able to have a work life balance. So I started working at Woodforest Bank as a banker but I knew that working for a company or someone was not what I wanted to do for my career. I always was told that I have great people skills and to stay focused on sales. Started brainstorming again and was able to get my Real Estate license and become a Realtor.  So currently I’m a banker and a Realtor. My goal is to be able to conquer the Real estate market and become a success in hopes to be the first immigrant Latino having his own HGTV show. 2020 will be my first full time year in Real Estate and so far I have been able to help family’s accomplish home ownership. I know I was made for this so I can’t wait to see the results by the end of the year. I’m determined, Focused and excited to continue this beautiful journey and empire that I’m starting for me and my family.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The only struggle I can think of is being an immigrant not by choice, but once I was able to get my work visa I was able to find my first job and get a good paycheck for a 18 year old. I can’t complain because I feel that I became more focused for the simple fact that it wasn’t always easy for me as a teen so I didn’t take my first good job for granted. I was able to learn great skills in sales and become a successful sales person that now is a benefit for me in Real Estate.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I feel I’m very different because I have knowledge with loans from working at the bank but my experience in sales has helped me be successful in Real Estate because I’m able to negotiate and talk well for my clients. Also being bilingual is a plus for me because I can work with any customer. Also, my charm and personality will sell to anyone but also about me is I’m very caring, so it’s not about a check for me it’s about helping families accomplish their dream of being homeowners. Seeing the hard work they put in to get their first home or dream home keeps me motivated to be a great Realtor and make that dream come a reality. The look in their faces after closing and receiving their keys is priceless.

What were you like growing up?
Well I was a quiet and shy boy when I was younger. You would of never thought that I was confident because I always questioned myself. I’m the oldest of four, one brother and two sisters. We are very close because often times when mom and dad where working two jobs I had to take care of them so we bonded through those times. My mom and my dad worked very hard to give us everything plus more so I am so blessed to have them in my life and without them I would never be the man I am today. I’m very thankful for all their hard work, and everything they did for me and my brother and sisters. Everything they did for us will not go unnoticed because we will make sure to take care of them as much as they did for us growing up. I have the greatest family because no matter what they are always supportive of me and cheer me on.

Mom and Dad this is for you! Mama y Papa esto es para ustedes, Los Amo!
