Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayra Carmona.
Myra, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am Mayra Carmona, I am 21 years old, I was born in the city of Houston, TX. I am proudly of Mexican roots, my mom is from the city of Monterrey Nuevo León where my grandparents live, which I definitely love to visit! I love my Mexican culture and being Latin. When I was little, I had a difficult childhood since I had to mature at an early age, my mother unfortunately suffered from Domestic Violence and it was there that I began to see life differently. Despite all that I was a girl who had too many dreams and one day hope to make them come true. As time passed by, my desire to help my mom and my brothers heal became bigger and bigger. I wanted to be a great television host and model as a child but I must admit that following my dreams was a very difficult path because my time at the age of eight till fourteen was not just Only mine it was also my brother’s because my mom Would work so hard as a single mother for us to have a great life, until she met a good man who supported her along with us. I never gave up on my dreams, at fifteen years of age when my family was more stable, I decided to follow my goals that I had dreamed of since I was a girl, thank God I had the unconditional support of my mom. My mom took me to my first photoshoot, I still remember that day, I was very happy and I knew that my dreams made me feel complete.
At that moment I knew I would never give them Up. From there I began to realize me to become a reporter/host and model. I did many photoshoots after photoshoot and of course not everything was perfect but I felt complete. After many years I met Jorge Olivares from Plan b television an advertising agency. Jorge is a person who has completely changed my life, he believed in me and gave me the opportunity to work with him as a Reporter. Thanks to him and to my great effort and my desire to get ahead, I had the opportunity to open many doors and fulfill many dreams. I have done many interviews with famous artists and actors. After I had worked with for a while with Plan b Televisión, I decided to compete in the Miss Houston Latina Pageant, which Natalia Castillo is Director for, an amazing and strong woman. I had the pleasure of being Miss Houston Latina 2018 and of course that was also an incredible adventure, there were difficult moments but being queen of that pageant has also taught me not only to grow as a person but also as woman, it taught me that is not only about being a “Model” But to be “More than a model a role Model “ Something I discovered as the representative of Miss Houston Latina was my passion for supporting women.
From there came the opportunity to be on the reality show “Enamorandonos Usa”, a national program on Hispanic television on “Univisión” channel. It was an incredible experience where I met many people and taught me many tools that I will be able to use as a television Host in the future. After being on the show I have had opportunities to be a brand ambassador for many brands not only in the city of Houston but in other cities as well. Currently I’m studying to get my bachelors For Journalism and also working on my own business, “Rise up Queen” an online clothing store that will soon be launching and I’m super excited. Even though I’ve been through a lot of beautiful things and have fulfilled many goals that I had as a child, I am still working on my ultimate goal which till today which is becoming a knowing Television Reporter. I want to inspire women to follow their own drama and show them that it doesn’t matter where they come from or what they are going through as long as you don’t let go of your dreams, you can achieve them. I’m super thankful of being the women I’m becoming and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me, also super thankful to God, my family and the people that support me and in my dreams.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely been a tough road but I am glad because of it was easy than I probably wouldn’t see life the way I do now, it thought me that hard work pays off and that your past doesn’t define you.

I am currently starting my own online clothing store, I’m proud that at a young age I get to fulfill this dream of mine to be a business owner and I thank my mom because if it wasn’t for her support and always Pushing me to do more and more I wouldn’t be where I am today. My business is barely going to start but what sets me apart is my passion to be successful in it.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I’ve always been really mature and dreamy. I am an optimistic person and have always believe everything happens for a reason. Nothing in the world describes me better than the word dreamy and positive. I am a people’s person and always have been.
