India, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started out doing hair in my mother in law’s basement in 2014. I built my brand in Hawaii shortly after by perfecting my seamless sew-in technique and began selling hair and teaching that technique to other stylists. I also began marketing my technique and lifestyle on social media and began teaching business seminars to small business owners. Furthermore, I came out with my own flat iron and have continued to add more streams of income year by year.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, the more my brand grew the more negativity I received. I’ve had many people try to bash and tarnish my name, brand and even try to do physical harm to me the more successful I became. I used all the negativity as fuel and turned it into something I could market and make money off of.
Please tell us more about your business.
Currently I specialize in helping other small business owners grow their business. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come based on everything I’ve went through. What sets me apart from others is not only do I have a marketable look with beauty and fitness, I am able to teach others with the knowledge I have. I am very relatable as well and not only share my success but losses as well.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have a lot planned! I do not like to speak about things until they are in motion but Pretty Posh has a lot of new items lined up for the near future. One thing I will be releasing very soon is my social media content e-book.
