Meet Priscilla Hinojosa of Laced Up Lashes By Cece in Memorial City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Hinojosa.

Priscilla, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a human sex trafficking survivor, my whole life I was set up for failure. I was set not to make it in this world but I made the decision that the world was not going to make this decision for me. I had gotten released from Harris County jail October 2017 and when they released me they released me to a center called “salvation army” it was a safe place for women coming out of prison, county, domestic violence, homelessness, drug addiction, and sex trafficking who really wanted to turn their life around, it was a second chance. It was time for me to start over with a new life and forget my past and all the pain that came with it, I wanted to be a new woman. I wanted to be a healthy woman not only physically but mentally as well.

I decided to give myself the love that I never got my whole life. After sometime I was able to get myself an apartment, the next task was getting a job but I got denied left and right. Even when I beg and pleaded and asked for people to give me a chance to prove to them that I wasn’t the person that I use to be, I still couldn’t get that break. Eight months later, I finally got a job at Texas roadhouse only because they didn’t do background checks but I was so excited still no matter what. It was my first job in five years and it was a step toward a healthy life and a better life no matter how low the job was, it was better than all the sad and dark feelings I felt before deciding to turn my life around. I started working at a restaurant and I decided that this wasn’t meant for me and I pushed for more because I knew that no one else would make that push for myself besides me.

Has it been a smooth road?
The challenges along the way was not getting support from my family. Not getting words of encouragement from my own parents. I had to give myself motivation and support and I realized that I couldn’t depend on someone else to make me feel better about what I was doing. I had to go out there and do it myself even if I had no one backing up, even if I had zero cheerleaders, I knew that I was going to be my own biggest fan and my own coach because no one will ever care or love me like I do. I had to learn to be my own cheerleader…

Please tell us about your business.
Right now, currently I specialize in lash extensions, I am currently expanding and learning new trades as well to add to my company. When I am ready I will broadcast it on social media but what I am most proud of about my company is that I want women to kn0w that no matter how hard the world beats you down that you are still smart, still beautiful, still worth it all, and still worth all the love and anyone who cannot see that is a complete fool. I just want to let you know that you are brave, smart, capable, and no one can take that from you and what sets me apart from others is my past that does come with a story, although that doesn’t make it any better or worse, I just want women of color to know that they can achieve anything that they want to be. That’s what pushes me to never give up.
