Meet Chans Johnson of Only1Chans HairArtistry in Southwest Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chans Johnson.

Chans, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated Cosmetology school at the beginning 2012. During this time, I worked as an assistant to Kay Simpson at True Perfection Salon who I’ve learned so much from. Not to mention all of the stylist in the salon were amazingly talented! I was getting known for my silk wrap but Color quickly became my passion!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was beginning to soar in my business doing what I love and then I was hit with the news that I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 26. When I started chemo, I was at stage 3. I thought I would be able to work while during chemo but no that was not the case. I was out of work for a year. Didn’t know what to expect but I knew after that I had no choice but to come up from this. Thank God I did! I thought my clients would move on. A few of them did but my clients waited for me and I gained more. I can’t thank God enough for the position he has me in.

Please tell us about your business.
Professional hairstylist who is passionate about her craft! I think of myself as a “Creative Hair Colorist” I’m all about the blending and the dimensions of hair coloring while keeping the hair healthy as possible.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Besides God blessing me with a miracle, my baby girl, to come back from what some would call a setback and come back better than ever! God is amazing!
