Thanks for sharing your story with us Mair. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I got into perfumery in an unconventional way. I was a receptionist many years ago and I happened to be signing my signature and a VP walking by stopped and said to me, “Mair, I can see that on a perfume bottle.”
Honestly, nothing changed in that moment I didn’t think much of it in that moment however for the next 3 years every time I would hear my name I would hear perfume instead. I couldn’t shake the feeling so I decided to go for it and launched my fragrance brand in the Fall of 2015.
Honestly how I got to where I am now is not by luck or knowing the right people, but by my relentless never say die attitude. There’s no magic formula to success, just keep going forward.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all! I don’t come from a perfume making or chemistry background, and everyone around me knew it. So I was faced with a lot of criticism and cruel comments in the beginning that my brand would never make it past a year. Couple that with trying to figure out how to run a business as a first timer with delays from vendors and customs holding onto your products causing multiple delays. I had to learn patience really quick!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mair – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
MAIR is a fine fragrance brand. We create scents and their accessories based on what the consumer wants our specialty is quality. We cater to the women that appreciate the use of rare notes and ingredients from all over the world that when brought together create a beautiful medley.
I’m most proud of the fact that people view my brand as a special gift. Nothing compares to the emotional high when I hear that my fragrance was bought as an anniversary gift. I feel really special to have created something that can be used to celebrate big milestones.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to continue expanding the MAIR product line with more scents and growing it into a lifestyle brand later on.
