Lakamdra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I’ve always said I wanted to be an anesthesiologist with my own independent practice, boss mentality. I wanted to help. Schooling was fun, I really enjoyed it but it felt impossible to reach the end. Somewhere along the way I realized I could still help in different ways, more hands on, more immediate. I dedicated myself to Esthetician School solely to do lash extensions and fell in love with every aspect of aesthetics, it surprised me how much I enjoyed doing facials. In hindsight, I’m much like an anesthesiologist, my clients drift off to sleep while getting services done and I’m there when they awake.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you’re an introvert, the quality of your work has to move mountains. I always strive to do more and be better. I had to sacrifice time away from my children to complete school. Yes, I had help from my amazing fiancé and I was home every night but I wasn’t as active as I wanted to be. That sacrifice has pushed me to be more approachable, open, active on social media, deal with my anxiety and generate clientele. This will ensure that I continue to have full control over my work schedule and have much needed quality time with my family. Owning a business is complex yet I set and achieve goals weekly.
Kams Beauty Bar – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kams Beauty Bar is a one stop shop for your face and body needs. Services include facials, chemical peels, face and body waxing, lash extensions, body wrapping, edges/hair growth, and adding more services frequently. I am a Licensed Esthetician specializing in Advanced Services such as Chemical Peels and Microderm Infusion. I am most proud of the growth of Kams Beauty Bar. What sets KBB apart from others is simple, I consider the full experience. You have to make an effort to evaluate your business on a regular basis and find ways to improve.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Client Feedback. It means the most to me. After two weeks of service, I use to reach out for feedback. Now, I don’t even have to ask. I couldn’t be more proud of the businesswoman I’ve become and how I am making an impact on my client’s lives. Every text, call, email or direct message, let’s me know Kams Beauty Bar is on the right tract. Growing and Glowing.
