Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Servetnik, Chun Wong.
Julia and Chun, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I met my fiancé Dr. Chun while in training in Philadelphia. We immediately connected because we have similar backgrounds. We both immigrated to the United States with our family as children. We were raised in underprivileged households with financial difficulties. Reduced lunch program and assistance programs helped us tremendously through the difficult times. Through our family and community support was how we actually became dentists. Even though we are opening a dental practice, Dr. Chun and I wanted to be involved with the community we are serving. We partnered with Cy-Hope because their mission is special to us. With every new patient that comes to our practice, we will sponsor a backpack filled with grocery for children in need in Cypress. We want to help children in need just like how we were helped when we needed it the most.
Has it been a smooth road?
We completed our pediatric training in Philadelphia, which was challenging but rewarding. We decided to move to Houston because we loved how culturally diverse the city is. We decided to open Cavity Patrol Pediatric Dentistry because we wanted to have the freedom to practice and provide care to children. Though the decision and road to open has been rough during this time with COVID-19, we are finally set to open in the beginning of August 2020.
Cavity Patrol Pediatric Dentistry – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Cavity Patrol Pediatric Dentistry is a pediatric dental practice providing comprehensive dental care for infants, children, and young adults in a warm, caring, and child-friendly environment. We are both pediatric dentists who have completed a two year pediatric dental residency training to provide comprehensive oral care and services as specialist. We treat kids of all ages from the time they are born to the age of 18. Effective dental care begins with proper disease prevention and is reinforced by targeted treatment planning. We strive to provide such quality of care through the combination of access, education and empathy.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting our everyday life, we have to adapt and accommodate the changes that come as the guideline changes. The health and well-being of our patients, team and community are our top priority. Our office will follow the ADA and CDC guidelines to provide dental care as safely as possible. Throughout the office we will continue to maintain social distancing and ask that all visitors wear a mask at all times. Our office will continue to maintain high sanitation standards to limit the spread of pathogens through the use of air purifiers, frequent cleaning of touch points, readily available hand sanitizer and strict infection control. We will continue and adapt to the new normal to ensure the safety of patients visiting our office.
