Today we’d like to introduce you to Lavern Spruill.
Lavern, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started LV Media as a way to highlight the amazing accomplishments and talents of others. There aren’t too many publications that focus on promoting and exposing a wide range of talents for the masses. It’s my way of helping others get their name out there and provide the type of publicity I wish I could have received when I started producing movies. As far as filmmaking, it’s always been a passion of mine. I’ve always had an interest in storytelling and filmmaking allows me to create those stories and give them life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, I learned everything I know from experience and trial and error. I’ve experienced a lot of doors closed and people just not taking me seriously. Being an African American female and trying to get your name out there through your talent is extremely difficult. I stay positive and continue to be consistent with everything I do.

I’m the CEO and founder of LV Media. We also have three successful magazines called LV Magazine. The most popular of the three magazines we print is LV Magazine Kids. Our Magazine is a culturally diversified publication that focuses on highlighting established industry professionals in a positive light.
Our publication is viewed internationally and we are growing at a fast pace. We featured talented professionals such as inspirational kid rapper DJ Annie Red, film actor Evan Alex, basketball sensation, athlete, actress, and entertainer Samaya Clark-Gabriel, Basketball Phenom Payton Kemp, Hyper-Realism Artist Kareem Waris, singing prodigy Bri’Anna “Bri” Harper, and more.
What I really Love is film. I started the magazine so I could promote my cast and film crew but the magazine just took off. I reached out to a lot of publications in the past to promote my films and my actors and we were pretty much getting the cold shoulder so I decided to create my own media plate form.
What were you like growing up?
I was a nerd growing up. I loved to watch movies and act out scenes from movies. As a kid I loved eating healthy and didn’t care too much for bread and meat so being a vegetarian now is easy for me.
I have a few upcoming projects as well.
“333” A new horror series starring actress and model, Lucky Ray and Shatoya Harris. “333,” starts in the year 2020. While quarantined along with her entire town during a pandemic, screenplay writer Lucky starts to experience a troubling chain of events after a 5G tower explodes near her home. Lucky will experience strange occurrences that will soon test her spirit, strength, and state of mind. Shatoya Harris plays a female serial killer from the year 1963. In an exciting climax, both women will meet and tie the entire story together.
333 is written, produced and directed by me.
I also have a 3D animation called “Vashti” coming soon. I’m the writer and producer along with my business partner and daughter Felicia Johnson.
Vashti” is about a black cat that was rescued from an animal shelter. She seeks out a kid reporter by the name of “Sincere” so that he can bring awareness to all the animals in the shelter that needs a home. Vashti is played by Iyana Lynese. and the kid reporter is played by Sincere Quinones.
