Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Droege.
Nick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Back in college, my business partner and I would spend our weekends brewing beer as this was a popular hobby for many of our peers. When it came down to it, we realized we would brew batches of beer to only end our nights with vodka or whiskey. This is when a hobby turned into a dream. In 2018, we chose to build our brand in Galveston and immerse ourselves in the island lifestyle.
We started with our vodka line, Texas Tail, and quickly introduced our Coastline whiskey to the collection. Now we have a single barrel whiskey, distilled and aged on the island, that has become the new staple within the distillery. Additionally, we have our Seawall Shine moonshine line featuring flavors of apple, peach, strawberry, black cherry, moonshine-soaked cherries, and our hundred proof!
Currently, we are located on the seawall, but we are in the process of renovating an entirely new location to be open early 2021! The location will house our entire distillation process from the grain to bottle, a full-service bar, food truck, outdoor area, and much more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think any small business owner can agree, no road is easy! Between learning TABC regulations and the federal standards of TTB, it was not a smooth start. However, with the help of many others we are proud of the business we have grown today!

Our distillery makes Texas Tail Vodka, Coastline Whiskey, and six flavors of Seawall Shine moonshine in Galveston. We are very proud of our handcrafted products as each of them has a distinct flavor profile. At our Galveston location, you can sample any of our products with a special flight or enjoy a variety of handmade cocktails by our fabulous bartenders! Some of our all-time favorites include the “Blackfin Snapper,” a twist on a mojito highlighting our Black Cherry Moonshine, and “The Honey Hole” which includes our signature Coastline Whiskey with a splash of honey.
While you’re there, ask for a tour of the distillery for an in-depth look into the process of handcrafting our fine products. We are a true small batch distillery who is proud of our Texas made spirits.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans are happening right now! We are fully renovating a brand-new facility expected to open early 2021. Our new location will allow us to expand our operations even further and potentially introduce new product lines. We are especially excited about the addition of an outdoor patio! Lawn games, a food truck, and local bands are expected to be found every week. Follow our social media accounts for grand opening announcements!
