In 2017, I found myself starting all over. Steaming from a horrendous break up and now a single parent, I quickly had to reposition myself both independently and financially. Not only did I have to restart my career, search for a new place to call home, I had to conquer these steps all while taking care of a very demanding and very active three year old. So needless to say starting over was scary.
During my search for employment and a place to call home, though I had a career prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, the requirements for gaining employment seemed quite challenging with so many hoops to jump through. Not only did I have to pass the typical drug screening and background checks, but now everything seemed to rely on my credit score! Eek!! Then it dawned on me, most companies and residential properties want to see how good you are with paying your bills and managing your credit. It speaks to your money management skills, your credibility and your stability as an individual. In all, can we trust you to pay your bill on time? Can we trust you to manage this multi- million dollar deal and its assets? Are you worth the risk to employ/ sub-let to you?
This experience inspired me to take the necessary steps related to my finances to ensure I not only stayed marketable in these aspects of my life, but for myself. By working on my understanding of Financial Literacy, it inspired me to create a platform that provides services and resources that not only educate and mentor others on the importance of having great credit, but also the fundamentals behind it such as Financial Planning and Budgeting as it all works hand in hand. Thus, The Financial Blueprint, Inc. was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The most challenging obstacles I’ve faced were within myself. Motivating and helping others to work on building Wealth for generations to come is great! However, being a business owner in itself is pretty taxing. Ensuring you have a great team is vital in growing a business. The biggest advice I can give to any Entrepreneur is to try and not spread yourself too thin. Allow others to assist in areas that they can. Delegation skills are key!

As the saying goes, “it takes a village…” would sum up the overwhelming support that I receive from family, colleagues and clients daily. My company is growing at a rapid rate and this could not be accomplished without giving credit to my awesome team! I can say with a full heart that everyone that I have encountered plays a huge part in my development as a business owner, manager and friend. I’m still learning daily and of course I’m not perfect, but I am truly grateful for the grace the Lord has shown me, His strength that sustains me, and the covering of protection He has provided. The Lord has truly been a blessing to me.
