Conversations with Fashion Dollface

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fashion Dollface.

Hi Fashion, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a fashion influencer & women’s advocate, my brand represents the everyday girl who demonstrates how fabulous, simple, edgy, outgoing & fun she is through her fashion sense. Born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised in Houston, TX, I grew up with my father being a pastor and my mother a nurse. My father’s opinion in comparison to my mother’s on all things Fashion wasn’t a walk in the park. The battle of what I could wear that was in style and what he would actually pay for allowing me to work my magic on what I had until I could afford to purchase items I really wanted without the argument of why he approves or not—pushing the Fashion to envelop and thinking outside the box at an early age because I wanted to fit in allowed me to experience clothes in a different way. I became fascinated with making fashion trends my own without a doubt and showing others how to do so. I learned that not every trend is for you and that’s ok. I launched my companies Shop Fashion Dollface and then later CocobeanHTX with the goal and purpose of bringing true and everyday fly fashions to those looking for just that at an affordable price. I believe when you shop for pieces that you will truly love getting dressed to get things done your way. My style is the perfect reflection of keeping it cute and away from “Living for the Jones”, because at the end of the day, you have to feel good in what you wear for YOU no matter the season.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A few challenges I would say I face as I pursue my divine purpose is keeping my faith high, eyes focused on my goals through my tears and keeping things successful during COVID. All these things tie into each other one way or another during this time of COVID. The rollercoaster ride as a business was way more than I think anyone could expect. The struggle of keeping sales going and steady when people are ordered to stay inside was truly trying. I’ve had people say, “just switch to loungewear,” but when you’ve invested a large amount already, that can be difficult when sales aren’t consistent. As an entrepreneur, you truly have to push yourself even when you have no strength and you’re tired. Keeping my eyes on the prize when they have swelled up with tears is a layer of strength I could never explain because the fight I had with my faith beforehand was draining. Although these may be my challenges, I understand hard moments are inevitable and I’ve learned through prayer, music, food and laughter. I’ll be just fine!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an entrepreneur in e-commerce selling apparel, photography, Fashion, and food blogging. However, I would consider myself creative!

What matters most to you?
I think it’s important to remember that what’s for you, no-one can steal or take. Often, we forget that the desires of our heart can come to pass if we focus on the work to get there. When I was younger, my mother would always say to me, “close your eyes to things that aren’t for you.” Back then, I didn’t understand how important this statement truly is because as you find your way, you may see others gaining what you want, but maybe it just isn’t your time. Commit to the joys of your heart as you strive and continue to seek guidance. My brand isn’t just about making money, but about shining a light on an individual through Fashion and helping them feel good about getting things done.
