Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Amid the growing number of related COVID-19 cases, families have been isolated from visiting and interacting to their loved ones due to the fact that facilities have placed restrictions on visitation. This has caused some families to be very frustrated and untrusting of the healthcare facilities and families have decided to take their loved ones in to their homes. Having their loved ones at home can place a strain on the families to perform the normal activities of life for ex. shopping, having some free time, or simply having a family outing and may require someone to come in to take care of their family member for a couple hours. This is where Caring Hands Home Care Agency LLC a Texas licensed home care agency can be of service. We are a small black-owned personal home care service that can provide families with the care that they need. Whether is just companion care or personal services such as bathing, light house duties, grocery shopping, we are here to help. I have been a nurse for over 20 years who has worked in various areas of nursing. For several years I have dreamed of owning my own health care service and after several years of research on how to provide these services I decided to take a chance. I have had the chance to work on the other side of personal health care being a home health nurse and now I am blessed to have the privilege to give back to patients and their families with my own caring service. We will be opening Spring 2021. Wow will also be accepting various insurances to meet your needs.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I would not say a smooth road. of course, before you explore things it requires research. Along with that there were financial barriers which can be a major factor in building a business. Also finding good dependable and reliable help to help your business have substance and be able to flourish. I’m still starting out, hoping that this licensed Houston based health care company can become one of the leading providers in the area. The major challenges are managing work, school and parenting but I find ways to get it all done outside of having a business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As I stated, I have been a nurse for 21 years. I’ve worked in all areas of nursing but now I’m currently in at the specialty of dialysis. Along with this I am a nurse practitioner student striving for my PHD. I think what sets me apart is the determination and drive that I have even when I am at my highest level of stress or feel that my back is up against the wall, I keep going. Most people recognize me as the mother of 3 very successful children, Meagan James TV/personality star, Brian Allen NFL player, and my youngest Jada Dancer Hair Stylist and MUA. I’m proud to say that being a single mother that I have overcome obstacles that most would have given up on and I’m proud to say that all that I have prayed for God has anointed me to have all of them.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Being a nurse, I am literally living the life of a COVID-19 nurse. It has taught me to be more thankful for the life that I have. After witnessing multiple deaths due to this virus, I have never been so humbled. I’ve learned to appreciate the little things; I’ll never take life for granted.
