Hi Keisha, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
Hello Book Readers!

My name is Keisha D. Bussey and I am a children’s book author. I am also a dance educator. I share my passion for dance and life on a daily with my students and colleagues. As I dance through my 20 years in education. I’ve always believed we should strive to develop the whole student. I am honored to share the love of dance while implementing dance books in the curriculum and the classrooms.

I have had a love of books since I was a little girl. My mother always bought me books to enhance my imagination while reading to her. My reading fluency continued to increase through high school. As I became more effective at comprehending passages, Looking back I became more focused and wanted to continue to read and dance.

My third- grade teacher encouraged me to read. She told me I was a strong reader who read with lots of expressions and that I would be a great reading teacher one day. She told me, I would be a great reading teacher one day. I knew God had a plan for me. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Never Miss a Chance to Dance and Read!

What inspired you to become an author as a dance educator?
I have always wanted to write a children’s book. I was inspired as a dance educator to become an author when I knew I could somehow implement reading books while teaching dance. IIn the dance curriculum there are many books we can read to students as read-aloud plus I have taught Language Arts as and also a certified ESL teacher. I wanted my students to experience dance and reading together. In my children’s book and Chapter book, I have vocabulary words, before and after questions for the readers to answer. This allows them to answer questions, turn, and talk to a partner.
