Check Out Noah Archangel’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Archangel.

Hi Noah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Peace to all my people in the struggle and those who made it out.

I am the only family member born and raised in Houston. Mainly grew up in Mo City but spent time all over, especially 5th Ward where my father (Charles Savage) ran the non-profit organization ‘Urban Enrichment Institute”. Seeing all the walks of life growing up always inspired me to create. I used to make beat tapes using the pause method with cassette decks. Won the talent show in college freestyling at Jackson State University and started my journey into music.

I started The Band of the Hawk as a rap group in 2006, formerly known as HTX. As I started to add more members I turned it into a collective of creators and extended the name to The Band of the Hawk Underground Pyramid Crew or #BOHUP for short. We are Houston’s underground Lo-Fi Hip Hop crew that releases music weekly, designs fashion quarterly and curates art pieces and events monthly. Now the BOHUP Crew consists of rappers, singers, painters, graphic arts, producers and marksmen.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Of course not, anything worth having takes work and ups and downs.

The struggle is still here and we fight it everyday. Most of it is because when you are in urban spaces, ie Hip Hop, the powers that be want you to add to the negative problems instead of solve them. Since we do not promote gangs, drugs, violence and misogyny, it is hard to get the promotion and support that we deserve. So word of mouth and social media are our biggest helpers with growing our fanbase and support system.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am mostly know for my beat making and production for The Band of the Hawk, The Reem Supreme Show and other creatives worldwide. I also shoot, direct and edit all the visuals from Music Videos to the content on our social media accounts, as well as for other brands. In addition, I design all of our fashion releases like Shirts, Hoodies and Hats. that are available on our website. When I have time I also am featured as a Rapper/Lyricist on most of The Band of the Hawk music releases.

How do you think about happiness?
Organized spaces…because I can be a little OCD. Music…..because it stimulates all parts of the brain. Martial Arts…because not only is it beneficial for self defense, it also helps to stay in shape. Sneakers……because my generation was the beginning of the culture that now only benefits those who never lived it. ( I am side-eyeing all you resellers out there who have never even seen a black neighborhood in your life.)

Fellowship…..because we are not meant to be here alone, and when you can spend time with like-minded individuals, you not only spend your time wisely but also recharge your soul.
