Community Highlights: Meet Tamar Turner of Down 2 Business Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamar Turner.

Hi Tamar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started with the Down 2 Business Podcast back in 2019 after realizing just how many creative and talented individuals that I was surrounded by. After finishing with grad school and having trouble finding a job in my immediate field I decided that I wanted to brand myself in some form or fashion. I was working at Target in the electronics department and so the first order of business was purchasing my Yeti Blue microphone.

After that, I recorded the announcement in my basement and then the rest was history!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Some challenges include:

-Finding somewhere suitable to record.
-Having to do everything myself when it comes to post-production
-Getting my podcast distributed onto all digital streaming platforms
-Maintaining professionalism despite not always dealing with the most accommodating people
-Furthering the success of the brand and continue to promote sales and increase my fan base
-Coming up with a schedule to fit my availability

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in public speaking and journalism. Ultimately, anyone who hears the name should know that we are completely open to any and everyone! We truly love speaking with individuals who have something that they take pride in and want to share with others all around the world.

We sit down with business owners, entrepreneurs, creatives, you name it…and truly get down to the nitty-gritty when it comes to your craft and how you’ve managed to achieve the success that you have and what that process was like.

I love the idea that no two interviews are the same which allows you to tap into the podcast journey at any point and not have missed out on anything technically. I am most proud that we have been able to keep such a steady pace over the years and even more recently when it comes to producing content. It has not been easy to stay on track but I thank God and those around me for continuing to push me no matter what.

In addition, I would like people to know that we also offer merchandise to commemorate our published episodes and as a way to truly spread the nature of getting down to business.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think the quality of not being complacent has contributed the most to my success. It has allowed me to recognize that while I may do good work, there is always room for improvement. Also, just when I think that I have things figured out or I am getting good feedback I should continue to go that much harder to bring something else to the table.

I value the idea of daring to be different and I think that shows with the current content I have as well as what is in store for the future.
