Today we’d like to introduce you to EmpowHer Movement.
EmpowHer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At the beginning of 2021, the 3 founders – Jessenia, Caitlin, and Carolina had been working out together consistently. We are passionate about our fitness and health and were posting on social media a lot. This led to many girls DMing us and wanting a group workout. After several messages, we decided that it would be fun to get a huge group of girls together to get motivated and accountable.
In April 2021, we had our first EmpowHer Bootcamp and it was a huge success! We had so many more girls than we had anticipated and we saw an opening in the market for women who needed a support system. We started having boot camps roughly every 4-6 weeks and then we incorporated workshops that covered nutrition, mental health, and goal setting. Due to the following that we have, we were able to have fundraisers for low-income schools and women’s shelters.
We also threw social events to create our community feels because we are inspired to give back to our community as much as possible. We also expanded our brand by creating athleisure with our logo that sold out multiple times. We are so excited that we have the opportunity to make women feel empowered and that we are able to advocate for healthy lifestyles.
We are also having our first big partnership with Athleta Memorial city and will be hosting a bootcamp at the turf square on January 8th at 11am. We’d love any and all women to come participate!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing this brand has been a very exciting and learning experience. Every new business owner understands the struggle of starting a business from the ground up. Some of our early struggles were coordinating dates and hauling all of our weights and finding a location that works for everyone.
Due to the lack of resources, like having our own gym we sometimes we’re faced with obstacles such as adverse weather, places to park, or a space to host our boot camp.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
EmpowHer Movement is a small business made up of 3 women that are passionate about creating a community that serves a safe space for women to become the best version of themselves. We do this through social media and in-person events such as boot camps, socials, and workshops. We are currently working towards becoming Certified Personal Trainers because we want to be able to provide as much knowledge and insight as possible.
It started out as a group of girls working out at a park, and 8 months later and our community has grown exponentially and our message continues to spread. There are many times women reach out to us and thank us for keeping them accountable and how we have changed their lives. There is no greater feeling than this and it reminds us of why we started.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just provide a workout and call it a day. We are communicating with the empowered girls weekly and checking in on them and keeping them accountable. We have become a family and we are truly dedicated to the movement and helping women create a healthy lifestyle for themselves and for ourselves as well. Our workouts are designed for all women, regardless of where they are in their fitness journey. We always want women to know that our boot camps are a non-judgment zone and it is a place to feel free and empowered.
We are proud of how people are constantly sharing our brand and message and how fast our brand has taken off. Girls are always asking about our merch and posting themselves wearing and tagging us in their workouts. This makes us so proud that they care to share their journey with us and help other women experience the same through Empowher.
All of our boot camps are free because we wanted them to be attainable for all women.
What makes you happy?
Seeing the journey of the women that are part of EmpowHer and watching our community grow. Knowing that we played a part in the betterment of someone’s life is extremely fulfilling.
