Hi Jamaal, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in Houston, TX. I’ve always had a love for cars and trucks of all types and how anything can be customized with just a simple idea. Right out of high school, my love for cars led me to become a certified car audio installer. Houston has a huge car culture that heavily involves customizing your ride.
No matter the type of car, Off-Roading, Low riders, or Muscles cars everyone needed a sound system to some extent. Eventually, needing more steady work, I started with the United States Post Office in 2006 as a mail carrier and I managed to continue audio installations while working my daily routes with the post office. 7-8 years later I wanted more from life and what I did for a living. Through some of life’s ups and downs and my father’s 8-year battle with cancer, I learned that life is too short not to enjoy every single day.
I wanted more from life and wanted to enjoy what I did for a living. I knew I had to figure out a way to combine my passion for music, cars, and the love of the open road. I have always loved keeping my car clean and I’d frequently go to a hand car wash near my house called “Classic Car Wash”. I went so much I developed a friendship with the manager and over time she inspired my business today. Through precise planning, the idea of a Luxury Mobile Detailing service was born.
I created a hydrophobic systematic wash system that guarantee’s your vehicle stays clean and protected at all times, all while delivering a long-lasting shine that’s out of this world! I set myself apart from your traditional B&M Car Wash to a mobile detailer where I bring everything I need to the client. We can come to your house, apartment, or office, the client essentially doesn’t need to be home.
It’s been almost 4 years since I left my 12-year career with the USPS to take a leap of faith and start my own business. I’ve worked on almost every car or truck you can think of and have had the pleasure of gaining a pro athlete as clients as well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Going full-time has definitely been a journey. Even with the bumps in the road, I love every bit of it because there is always a lesson learned with every obstacle. As a business owner, you have to be able to grow from every lesson and keep hustling. Forward motion or no motion has always been my mentality.
One of the biggest obstacles I had was learning how to market and advertise my business myself while running the business. Clients wanted more services and I had to keep up with the demand and maintain the quality of service. I remember walking door to door with my flyers after I spent countless hours creating them myself in photoshop.
I wanted to save cost as much as I could so I did all the footwork myself. Now, I don’t have as much time to go door to door anymore so finding more creative outlets to market has been a challenge.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Anybody can wash a car… But can you keep it clean is my question?
I specialize in “gloss and protection”. The ability to deliver an out-of-this-world shine with a hydrophobic protective finish is one of my favorite signatures. My detailed service gives my client protection thus making self-maintenance a breeze. Leaving the surface with a gloss finish and a paint-enhancing gloss that can’t be missed. Treatment rather than just a wash is what sets The Luxe apart from other detailers.
Protection
We offer many tiers of ceramic coating protection for the Exterior and Interior of the vehicle. Protection and proper maintenance are key when maintaining a vehicle. I offer a maintenance program catered to the client and vehicle to ensure the vehicle stays clean and protected at all times. I learned the importance of customer service working at the post office.
So my ability to assess every vehicle and cater to the client’s wants has taken me a lot farther than I ever could have imagined.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the near future, I see the industry growing because of the recent inflation across the board. The price of a new vehicle is at its highest in history. They are becoming a true investment purchase that needs to be protected and maintained to match the price tag that goes with car ownership.
The pandemic brought out a lot of new detailers trying to find their way. You shouldn’t have a problem finding a mobile detailer in your area. As I stated before “anyone can wash a car, but can you keep it clean?” This is where true skill and understanding of the science of auto vehicle protection and maintenance come into play. My details keep your car clean for months at a time. I’m sure there will be a new ceramic coating or chemical that will change the way detailers work. Just like everything else in the world, detailing can only grow and improve from here.
I see the good ole’ drive-through car wash a thing of the past. Who wants to purchase a vehicle at over the market value and take it to their local carwash to clean their brand new or even used car! Only to discover scratches and swirls that were provided by the flying brushes and stiff spaghetti-like noodles flopping on the surface. “Lol”.
