Thanks for sharing your story with us Tanissa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a thriving Hairstylist & Owner of Untourage Salon Retreat. I knew I wanted to create and transform hair to inspire beauty in people, so that it would change the way they feel about themselves just by a new hairstyle, new color or new haircut. After living in Europe, creating hair unofficially, I returned to the U.S. in the early 90’s to Colorado Springs, Co. I enrolled in beauty school at the Tony & Guy Beauty Academy, to began my studies of making people beautiful my profession!
Most importantly hair is my artistry, and for the last 20 plus years using my art of making people beautiful has been my passion. “I love when I make my clients feel beautiful and the feeling they get when they see their new look”. The salon studio is located in the sugar land area, a suburban area outside of Houston, Tx–where I now spend most of my days transforming my clients hair identities, one strand at a time, come experience me!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course being an entrepreneur has not been an easy road to travel. Building a stable clientele takes time. Knowing that everyone is not your client; and I’m not everybody’s stylist either. Being smart in your business to me meant learning to be fair to your business and standing firm on that. Many times I’ve wanted to throw in the towel, but because of how passionate I felt about my craft the thought of giving up just wasn’t an option for me.
Please tell us about Untourage Salon Retreat.
My salon strictly is to attract clients that want more for themselves in terms of their look. I only want to service those type of clients. I specialized in turning clients with fears of bad hair experiences from other Stylist, into believers again. I’m best known for quality but creative work; be it a Pravana Smooth Out, Balayage Hair Color or a Customized Wig Unit, you will only get quality. I pride myself on customer service, without it your business will fail. What makes me different from most Hairstylist is that I care and I respect your time, so there’s ABSOLUTELY no long waits to be serviced. That’s is just unacceptable!
