Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Lopez.
Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Amanda Lopez Single mother, Entrepreneur and the owner of The Beautology Shop. The Beautology Shop was created with Resilience, this is how my story began.
I had been in and out of so many part-time jobs that I wasn’t comfortable in until I started waxing. After divorcing my first marriage and getting my license I started looking for a career in my profession and waxing was the most flexible career option I had. I was intimidated and a bit scared at first I even wanted to quit my first week but I pulled through until eventually, it became easier.
I Had a colleague who then introduced me into the world of going out that’s when my life began to change. I started to like it. It became a distraction it became addictive, the atmosphere the attention. I then started to fall apart. It became such a bad habit, it felt like a void I had was filling.
One day while I was at work they called me and my colleague to the office when there they asked us to sign a paper of termination and asked us to collect our belongings and leave the facility. I was shocked I was devastated and I was in tears. I couldn’t believe I was losing my job.
After losing my job as a waxer I was able to obtain a job as a cashier. It wasn’t the same I wasn’t content with my job but it put food on the table and my colleagues became really good friends of mine. After months I wanted to continue and pursue a career in the waxing industry. I had learned to love what I did and didn’t want to give up on that. I began to look for rooms and suites to continue waxing, but unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to pay for them with the wage I was making as a cashier. After applying to different jobs I finally got an interview.
Morning of the interview I felt great I looked great and I knew I wasn’t going to leave that place without a job. I knew what I could bring to the table and I was confident about it. Within 5 minutes on my way to the interview, my car breaks down. It completely stopped and wouldn’t turn on. All my confidence, all my hopes and dreams quickly faded. As I sat in the car in tears not knowing what to do or who to call I said ok I know this is a sign for me to get my own waxing place. Then I heard a knock on my passenger side window. It was an older gentleman. He opened the door and said to me “You can pay me $80 or $120 in the pound.” I looked up at him in tears and told him I had $20 cash and I was on my way to an interview. He shook his head and said to me “Ok get in my truck”.
I got in his truck and he quickly began to load up my vehicle. Not even 5 minutes in a sheriff was pulling in. Thankfully Oscar was there to help tow my vehicle and told the officer everything was fine. Oscar then got inside the truck and I started telling him about my current situation. He offered to take me to the interview and I politely said no, that God had other plans for me. He then laughed and said to me “ Have you even seen what the side of my truck says?” Confused I said no. He pulled out his business card and handed it over to me. It read: “God sent towing service LLC. Mathew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” I quickly got chills throughout my body and began sobbing again. I knew at that moment there was something greater for me. Oscar then offered to take me to the interview once again and I politely said no it was ok. He drove me and my vehicle home and he didn’t charge me a penny. I am very thankful for that moment.
I came back to my cashier job with my story to my manager and something clicked inside her. She then told me she had a friend who owned a spa and needed someone to lease a room. A month I was leasing a room at a spa with my manager’s friend that I was actually able to barely afford with my cashier wage. Four months after leasing the room I was able to obtain the job I had missed out on that I was so confident I was going to get. They gave me another opportunity to show up and I was able to invest the money I was making at those jobs into my business. I took a leap of faith quit all my jobs and I now work full time for myself in my own business. It hasn’t been easy at all but when God gives you obstacles or he takes something away, he’s preparing you for bigger things. You can always bounce back from falling down as long as you always have faith and are thankful.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve had many obstacles during this journey my biggest obstacle is fighting depression and alcoholism. If you ever want to get anywhere you can’t give up on your hopes and dreams. Your hunger for dreams has to be bigger than your obstacles. Obstacles are only temporary and they help you build character.

I am a full body waxer I specialize in Brazilian waxing. What sets me apart is caring for my clients. We are all the same we all have the same issues. My character and personality is what sets my business apart. I am most proud of how my clients trust me. Without them, I have no business.
