Meet Janel Prator of The Puddery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janel Prator.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2006, while working for a phone company in Los Angeles Ca, I made pudding to compete in a cook-off. My coworkers loved my pudding so much that they suggested that I should sell it. That’s when the lightbulb came on. Soon after, I started having bake sales at work and eventually began participating in community events, festivals, and catering. Fast forward to the present day I recently relocated to Houston and I’m building my brand here and connecting with my new community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! The road has definitely not been easy. It’s been a ton of highs and lows. At one point, I closed my business for many years, But, I found the courage to start again. It wasn’t easy being a single mom, working a full-time job, and trying to grow a business. It’s definitely tough. But my dream is so much bigger than the obstacles and stronger than any hurdles I’ve faced in business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Puddery ?
