For Jasmine Hernandez, lashing started as a quiet act of service and grew into a calling built on trust, consistency, and care. What began with helping women feel beautiful evolved as she watched confidence change the way her clients carried themselves long after they left her chair. Today, Jasmine is not only an artist but an educator and mentor, teaching across Texas and guiding beginners through both skill and mindset. Grounded in resilience and intention, her work blends artistry with individuality, empowering women to believe in themselves, show up with discipline, and build something lasting — even before they feel fully ready.
Hi Jasmine, thank you so much for taking the time to share your stories and insights with our readers. You started lashing as a way to help women feel confident, and it’s grown into a full-fledged business and career. Looking back, what was the moment you realized this passion could become something bigger?
Looking back, the moment I realized lashing could become something bigger wasn’t one big flashy win. It was quiet. It was when clients kept coming back not just for lashes, but for how they felt after. I saw confidence change the way women walked out my door. I started lashing with a simple intention—to help women feel beautiful—but over time I realized I was building trust, community, and consistency. I took risks before I felt “ready,” invested when it scared me, and chose discipline over comfort. That’s when it clicked: this wasn’t just a side hustle, this was a calling I could build a life around.
Education has become a huge part of your work, from teaching lash courses across Texas to mentoring beginners just getting started. What do you love most about teaching, and what impact do you hope your students walk away with beyond technical skills?
What I love most about teaching is watching someone go from doubting themselves to believing they belong in this industry. I see myself in my students—especially the ones who come in nervous, unsure, or feeling behind. I didn’t have an easy path; I learned the hard way, through trial, mistakes, and persistence. When I teach, I don’t just focus on technique. I teach mindset, professionalism, and resilience. My hope is that my students leave knowing they are capable, disciplined, and worthy of success—even on the days when business is slow or confidence feels low.
You’ve built your brand around enhancing natural beauty while still delivering that “baddie” confidence boost. How do you balance artistry and individuality in your work, and what sets your approach apart in a crowded beauty space?
Balancing artistry and individuality comes down to listening. Every client has their own features, energy, and definition of beauty. My goal is never to copy trends blindly, but to enhance what’s already there while giving that “baddie” confidence boost. What sets my approach apart is intention. I care deeply about detail, natural balance, and long-term lash health, but I also want my clients to feel bold and empowered. I don’t believe beauty should look the same on everyone—and I think that mindset is what keeps my work authentic in such a crowded space.
Like many entrepreneurs, your journey hasn’t been linear. How have personal challenges and moments of self-doubt shaped your mindset, work ethic, and the way you show up for your clients and students today?
My journey hasn’t been linear at all, and honestly, my challenges are what built my work ethic. I grew up learning things the hard way, and there were many moments where quitting would’ve been easier. Self-doubt, personal struggles, and life responsibilities forced me to either break or grow—and I chose growth every time. Those experiences made me more patient, more grounded, and more real with my clients and students. I show up as myself, not perfect, but consistent, disciplined, and resilient. That authenticity is something people feel when they sit in my chair or learn from me.
You’re continuing to grow as an artist and expand into new services like makeup while evolving your brand. What’s been most exciting about this next phase, and how do you stay inspired as you level up?
This next phase of expanding into makeup and evolving my brand has been exciting because it pushes me creatively and personally. I’m challenging myself again, stepping into unfamiliar territory, and honoring the fact that growth requires discomfort. I stay inspired by remembering why I started and by surrounding myself with women who are leveling up too. I don’t wait until I feel fearless—I move even when I’m nervous. That’s always been my pattern.
For women who are dreaming about turning a beauty skill into a business of their own, what advice would you give them about consistency, discipline, and believing in themselves?
For women dreaming of turning a beauty skill into a business, my advice is simple but real: consistency beats talent, discipline beats motivation, and belief has to come before results. You won’t always feel confident. You won’t always feel supported. But if you’re willing to show up on the hard days, invest in yourself, and take risks even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed, you can build something real. I’m living proof that you don’t need a perfect start—just the courage to keep going and never give up on yourself.
