Community Highlights: Meet Meg Ellis of Phoenix 8 Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Ellis.

Hi Meg, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
“Until to you make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it fate.” C.G. Jung

For 27 years of my life, I walked around asleep, coasting through life as a zombie. Then one day, I decided to wake up. If you constantly are strapped to what you “should do,” know I did too. If you aren’t fulfilled with how you spend your time daily but are fearful to take a step into uncertainty, I was too. If you’re ready to live a life that is your own — one that is filled with passion, confidence, and self-love, I can help you.

Hello, my name is Meg Ellis, and I help wake people up. I am a Certified NLP Practitioner along with being a Certified Conscious Life Coach, and I hold my Enneagram Coaching Certificate as well.

Basically, that means I use a tool called the Enneagram, which is a personality test rooted in personal growth, to bring consciousness to your self-limiting beliefs. Then, as a neurolinguistic programming (NLP) practitioner, I help you create new thoughts to replace the old ones that are holding you back from success, fulfillment, and peace.

Have you ever wondered why you do something? “I don’t know, that’s just the way I’ve always been.” What if you don’t like it? Would you want to change it? What if there’s something you don’t like about yourself (or something holding you back) that you don’t even know is there? We live by these unconscious thoughts which then lead to unconscious actions — and pretty soon, we’re living a life not designed by or for us. The worst part? We don’t even know we’re doing it.

This can resonate as climbing the ladder to success and once you get there, you’re still not happy. Living by someone else’s moral or societal standards and never really knowing “why” you do or think things…something just feels “off.” Constantly making “safe” decisions that give you short-term relief but long-term stunt your growth.

These are just a few examples, but the most important thing to note is that you don’t have to stay this way. You, too, can wake up and live the life that you want. You can create your experience to be filled with zest, excitement, clarity, and peace.

You can create your fate.

It begins with understanding yourself. I help you with that.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am a firm believer in perfect timing and am very grateful for my personal development journey, yet the road to where I am today has certainly not been easy.

To give a little backstory, being a motivator and a connector has always been a huge part of who I am. I started in fitness as a cycle instructor about eight years ago, and I loved inspiring people to identify and defy their limits. I created a networking platform for fitness professionals in Houston, bringing people together to inspire community over competition. Over time, this transpired into consulting for fitness professionals — coaching instructors how to be their own entrepreneurs and leading studio owners to fulfilling their dream of success and impact.

My consulting skills began to expand into other industries and I began to consult for various small businesses. When the pandemic hit, I found myself a little lost — along with many others. Businesses were frail and unstable — I couldn’t really advise much, as I honestly didn’t know where the world was going. One thing that didn’t change, however? The business owners. Showing up as humans, lost and scared.

Now, more than ever, people were looking for motivation. They were looking for a connection. It was here where I realized how I could continue to help connect people — not to others — but to themselves.

I ended up finding my true passion of coaching people and not businesses. The similarities between entrepreneurs — regardless of their industry — was fascinating to me. No one thought they were worthy of success, no one could ask for help, and everyone struggled with imposter syndrome and perfectionism — all things I had overcome (or was learning to overcome) myself.

This led to years of studying, certifications, courses, books, podcasts — anything I could do to educate myself on why we all think this way. I dove into conscious living and was completely immersed into my own personal development. I mean, as a coach, I have to do the work too!

This was certainly the hardest part, and it continues to be a journey — there’s no summit to personal growth. I love learning more about myself and leading others to do the same. PSA: This is not easy. But I will promise you that it is worth it. I’m the most confident I’ve ever been, and my sense of self has never been stronger. I love seeing the people I coach to discover these aspects as well. The impact I’ve seen created through the self-discovery of my clients is so fulfilling for me.

One thing I always say in coaching, when people ask how I got to be so confident, is that I simply just understand myself very well. That’s all it is. If you want to be the most confident version of yourself, learn to understand yourself. Begin there. I can help you.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a Conscious Life Coach, my focus is on mindset and how to transition your mind to become one that actually believes in the life that you want — and then isn’t afraid to take steps towards it.

I created a unique proven methodology that encompasses three foundations: The Enneagram, Consciousness, and The Law of Attraction (positive energy brings more positive energy.)

One program I offer is called the 90-Day Mindset Makeover, which is a complete mind transformation. The program was designed quite divinely one night, while I was enjoying “the power of a pause.” I finally sat down quietly with myself long enough to self-reflect on my own personal development journey. A wave of energies overcame my presence, telling me how I could use this to impact others. The 90-Day Mindset Makeover was born, originating as color-coded Post-It notes on the wall. It has now evolved to a virtual platform that is easy to access from anywhere!

My coaching has evolved as well, as I not only coach entrepreneurs, but also leaders, teams, people in job transition, stay-at-home moms with side hustles, and even college students to create the life they desire, beginning with their mindsets. Because I coach virtually, I’ve expanded to the national level, and I love meeting new clients from all over the country! I’m looking forward to the opportunity to travel and meet some of them in person in the future. That would be so cool for me.

Of course, like many other things in life, coaching only works when it’s the perfect fit. I conduct a short online Discovery interview and follow up with a phone call to ensure that I am the right coach for you. Because my methods are quite unique, I understand that they may not speak to everyone. Coaching is not only a financial investment but also a substantial investment of energy and time. If we are a great match, and if you put in the effort to discover your true self and grow into it, I can help you change your life. And it simply begins with changing your mindset.

I encourage you to check out my podcast — Create Your Fate Podcast — to gain a sense of my style and to see if we might be a good fit. Expect 20-30 minute mini life coaching sessions on each episode. If it feels right, please send me an inquiry on my website or schedule your free consult.

I want you to know that where you are right now — I have been there. Choosing courage and bravery to step into the life I wanted was the best thing I have ever done. It’s my mission to help you do the same. I take pride in my top values — adaptability and joy — to create flexibility and excitement for you along the path of personal development. And trust me, I have either done or seen it all. The space we create together is completely nonjudgmental and safe.

And of course, if I could leave you with just one thing, it’s this — Expect Good Things…Always! And they will happen.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Houston! I’ve been here for 8 years, and one thing that I absolutely love is the diversity in our city. It’s very different from where I grew up (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and the perspective gained from experiencing so many different cultures, people, backgrounds, and languages has shaped who I am so very much. I am very thankful for that.

The humidity is not my favorite, but I absolutely hate winter. When I moved here from the Northeast, I promised myself I would never complain about the heat. So, now I focus on the wonderful perk of the humid air keeping us young-looking and wrinkle-free.
