Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Dunn.
Amy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Houston and competed in All-Region and All-State orchestra and as a solo violinist. I strongly considered a career in music, but after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin and securing a first-place win on the Mock Trial team, I knew I had to go to law school.
Inspired by the challenge, “If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere,” I decided to go to law school in Manhattan and worked as a litigation attorney. All the while, I was also signed to a modeling agency and later freelanced as a photographer. I had the greatest New York experience!
Texas kept calling me home, and I officially started my own firm in 2019.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In law school, I never would have imagined starting my own law firm. I had people project their own insecurities saying that it was too hard, too risky.
But I had unwavering faith that everything would work out and can confidently say it did. This is a classic example of, “Leap, and the net will appear.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Amy Dunn P.C.?
I focus my practice on personal injury cases–serious injuries, wrongful death, trucking accidents, car wrecks, severe dog bites, products and premises liability cases.
I believe in a customized legal strategy for each client, something that is not always a given in big firms. Compassionate care and aggressive representation fully maximize a client’s experience, and I love hearing the joy in my client’s voices when we resolve their case.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
There’s a place in the legal industry for your voice to be heard–especially now. Focus on your strengths, don’t compare yourself to others, and always do your best.
