Today we’d like to introduce you to Ti’Andrea Simpson.
Hi Ti’Andrea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I ended up starting my own business because I grew unhappy and I wanted to do something where I was happy and I didn’t have to think about it being work. I thought about it for three years because I didn’t even know what I wanted to do. I just hated where I was at, and although I was in a good position financially, I just wasn’t happy, so I made the decision to resign after being a part of the company for 8.5 years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, in our heads, we plan for things to go smooth but of course, that does not happen. I learned early that the perfect plan does not exist. Right after getting my studio, the first challenge was Covid, that was, and still is one of the biggest challenges I’ve had as far as being a business owner. Being a makeup artist, your job is to be in others’ faces so with Covid and shut down that was a major bump in the road for me because I had expectations but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to meet those due to state-regulated mandates, in which I understood the necessity of it.
Daily being a business owner, there are challenges that I face. I just think that overall, the only thing that matters is on how you finish.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a traveling makeup artist based here in Buffalo, NY I specialize in natural makeup but can definitely cater to all needs. What I am most proud of is being able to maintain entrepreneurship for the last three years I am so excited about all the new beginnings still to come with my business, Juled Makeup Academy as we are now expanding to the cosmetics end of our brand, super nervous but excited.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was spending time with my grandmother she was my everything outside of my mom going to her house and having my own room was something I looked forward to. We would watch TV, joke around and cook together. I miss her so much, it’s been 16 years without her and it still never gets easy. My brand is named in recognition of her.
