Diamond , it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
I am a Singer Songwriter/ Radio Personality. I produce my own records, write my own songs and run my own radio show on R&B Hearts which you can listen to on Amp!
What projects do you have coming for the upcoming year?
I recently dropped a Projects on February 3 called “Made Here” it’s an eight song project. I named it “Made Here” because I literally recorded edit it produced it wrote it all in my home studio, so it was literally “Made Here.” on the cover of the album it’s a photo of my personal studio. I’m very proud of the project. I’ve been droppings songs and EPs for quite some time now and this for sure is some of my best work. I am also still on my radio show R&B Hearts on Amp. What are some things you can tell us about this new EP?
It’s very personal, it’s where I am currently in my life, all the trials and tribulations I’m going through dealing with past trauma, past relationships how it’s following me into my present time & how I’m trying to escape it, how much I’m talking to God and asking for guidance, a real spiritual piece for me. I pray that anyone who listen to it can get a good feel of where my life has taken me and pray that they seek their own journey into finding themselves.
Tell us what your album process is like?
Album process is very simple. I always find a nice solid track that I can write to. I sit with it I write songs pretty quick them record. I edit the vocals and spend a lot of time mixing and mastering it. Then I send it out there to the world to hear. The process of making my albums isn’t that stressful I think the hardest part is figure out what I want to write about and how deep I wanna go, the actual writing of the song is easy it’s figuring out what I want to write about.
Why is it important for you to write your own music?
Is very important to write my own music because I want to speak from my perspective in life. No one can feel how I feel. No one knows how I feel. I love the process of writing songs you can get real deep and personal and I feel like no one can tell or convey a story better than I can. Writing songs is my secret weapon I wish I could write for other artists. I pray that one day God willing I’ll be inducted to the songwriters Hall of Fame and win a songwriters award at the Grammys!
How has the Amp app and R&B Hearts helped you as an artist?
The radio show has helped me grow my audience as far as listening to my music. I was very nervous doing the radio show at first because I’m truly an introvert, but it brought out a different side of me and has brought new people who may have never heard of me to listen to my music. It’s a fun way to connect with people all over the world you never know who you’ll inspire, or who will inspire you.
What do you think is the next step in furthering your career?
I believe the next step and further in my career is to get out there and perform shows I believe that’s what I need right now. I can’t seem to find my audience in real time or in person. I have a slight idea through phones & social media, but I would love to see peoples faces, and to see if people really connect and to see if someone would actually buy a ticket to a show so doing any shows that allow me to sing my original songs will be my next step in furthering my career.
