Life & Work with Rose Young

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Young.

Rose, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My first taste of limoncello was in Malta after enjoying a relaxing lunch with family while enjoying the scenic view of Mistra Bay. I also enjoyed the drink on my many visits to Italy. During the lockdown, which began in March 2020, I started experimenting with a limoncello liqueur that was unlike any other on the market.

After I was satisfied with the taste that I desired, the next step was having family and friends taste and critique the drink. They enjoyed it so much that they enthusiastically encouraged me to try to bring it to the market.

I talked to a few distilleries and finally found one that was willing to take on the challenge and bring my dream to fruition.

Chella Limoncello is currently available in a number of liquor stores and restaurants throughout the Houston area. I am continuing to look to grow the brand.

Chella Limoncello is Texas born, Italian-inspired Limoncello liqueur with a unique and personal charm of its own.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Bringing an unknown brand to market. Naysayers about the perceived (sweet or sugary) taste of Limoncello.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Living overseas experiencing the different cultures. Charity work in Cairo with the Petroleum Wives club loved it! It was a great experience!

Malta was a fabulous place to live, beautiful beaches & lovely people. I organized venues for the company my husband worked for.

London I was class mom 2 years for my son’s class grades 11 & 12 & also organized graduation venue and events for the moms.

In Texas continuing to grow Chella.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Overcoming the hurdles of setting up meetings or tastings with owners and mixologists concerning the perceived sweet taste of Limoncello.

Once they taste my Chella Limoncello, they agree it’s different from all the others on the market.
