Meet Annette Le Pavec of Art Montage Yoga in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annette Le Pavec.

Annette, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised on the coasts of Northern Brittany in France. I always have a passion for adventure, healthy living and a creative and active lifestyle, so I dedicated my life to pursuing this way of living.

After a 20 years career as a professional Dancer, I got married in Mexico City where I raised two beautiful kids. Mexico City is a beautiful and huge Metropol. I really enjoyed my time there, especially being with my kids and watching them grown.

However, when they left the house to pursue their own dreams, my husband and I decided to move to the USA in 2009 looking for new adventures.

Katy, a quiet yet growing small city, seemed to be the perfect place to start again. In 2010 I opened Art Montage Yoga, a weird French name for a Yoga studio. My intention was to teach French and Spanish to kids using the discipline of Yoga and dance as an academic tool. But… nobody showed at the door! Our yoga room remained empty.

At that time, I practiced daily in the garage of our home. It was Summer, and you know summer in Texas, I was sweating profusely and started to feel the benefits of practicing in a hot environment. I’ve had a chronic pain in my lower back for years, and doctors didn’t have good news for me. After years of Dance and acro-Dance, joins were permanently damaged.

After 3 months of practicing in the heat in the garage of our home, the pain completely vanished!

Then, the rest is history. The studio took a new direction with the opening of our first hot yoga room, and students start to show up. We have been in business for 7 years and at the beginning of 2018, we are expanding our location. We are building 2 new yoga rooms; one light-filled, airy yoga room and a beautiful private room studio.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Running a yoga studio feels like your personal practice. Sometimes you hold a plank for a long period of time and other times you restore in a child pose. In the face of challenges. It’s all about balancing, control and surrender.

Art Montage Yoga – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets Art Montage Yoga apart from others is the French touch of the studio. The European savor is reflected in the decoration of the studio, the cultural diversity of the students, and the creativity of both the yoga and Barre classes.

French people love Americans, they share the same values, so the fusion of both heart and mind is nothing but rich.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I would say that success is about feeling good and making others feel good. It’s is about feeling complete wherever you are in your journey, but cultivating the feeling of butterflies in your stomach that makes you want to get up in the morning and go for your dreams.
