Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly McCullagh, MD.
Dr. McCullagh, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been blessed with an amazing career as a OB GYN for 25 + years. I specialize in Gynecology with an emphasis on menopausal management and minimally invasive treatments and surgeries.
My passion for breast cancer survivors stems from personal experience. I have witnessed firsthand women undergoing extensive chemotherapy and radiation only to experience long-term residual effects of breast cancer treatments on their relationships.
No one ever talks about the difficulties after treatment. With intimacy now difficult and painful, survivors may find their romantic relationships strained or unfulfilling. Despite being cancer-free, these long-term effects of their treatment are a frequent reminder.
After successfully completing breast cancer treatment, you might find initial relief quickly followed by residual symptoms caused by treatments. Many symptoms may be menopause-related, such as recurring urinary infections, vaginal dryness and looseness, and painful intercourse. Until the last year and a half, there has not been a solution I’ve been able to offer these survivors to help with the symptoms they experience after chemotherapy.
So tell us what is femilift and how can it help women?
Femilift is a safe, non-hormonal solution for breast cancer survivors. Helping survivors not only regain feeling and satisfaction but their quality of life back. The FemiLift laser treatment stimulates the development of new blood vessels and collagen regeneration in the vaginal area. FemiLift is the perfect solution for the woman on the go. With zero pain and downtime attached, patients can resume their daily activities immediately after leaving our office.
Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest struggle has been getting the word out to these women that there is finally a solution. The symptoms they experience with age does not have to be your new normal. Many women are embarrassed by involuntary urine leakage, painful intercourse (the struggles it puts on their marriages) and the laxity they feel so they do not talk about it. I want women to know they are not alone and this is a very common thing among us. I want to empower women to be able to live their best life and give them the confidence back they so deserve.
When women first hear about vaginal restoration they associate it with an aesthetic procedure. However, what many women fail to realize is that Femilift provides relief to urine leakage or loss of bladder control when, coughing, sneezing or even exercising. The condition can control many aspects of a woman’s life, such as being able to run or lift. FemiLift also treat vaginal laxity/looseness, which may reduce friction and sensation during intimacy for both partners. But most importantly it relives vaginal dryness, causing pain or discomfort during intercourse, and an overall decrease in sexual satisfaction. These symptoms they experience with age does not have to be their new normal. I wish more women would come forward to their obgyn. Women need to know that they are not the only ones, there is solution to and femilift is one of them.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Femilift | Women’s Health of Katy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Women’s Health of Katy hosts informational seminars available to discuss issues and advances in women’s health and to empower women not to settle for changes that reduce their self-esteem or anchor themselves to their age, but instead, to empower them to know that there are options. While primarily informational, these seminars also offer a space where women can share their own stories, experiences and continue healing. I want to build a community for these women so they have a safe place to share and discuss.
We specialize in women’s health of all stages. New moms who notice residual side effects such as vaginal looseness, urinary leakage, and recurring urinary tract infections after having children. The active women who want to live life to the fullest but may suffer from a minor or major loss in bladder control, most often resulting in urinary leakage when coughing, sneezing, exercising, or even laughing.
Menopausal women who levels of sex hormones such as estrogen and progesterone naturally decrease with age, resulting in vaginal dryness, urinary leakage, and painful intercourse. These changes not only wreak havoc to your vaginal health but carry on to your relationships. Or breast cancer survivors who are ready to talk about whats next after chemo and how to get their quality of life back.
